I want a black & white promo photo of my father converted into color.

I have the original negative of the photo. I have an original print of the photo. Several 1200DPI scans of the negative, a glossy, and a matte of the photo are uploaded for this contest --- to this dropbox link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/3ss0yh0ng99ew3m/AAA6u6aRyF5Z4J0OO2r5Lcr8a?dl=0

The files uploaded include the promo photo (low-resolution scan) and color photos of my father, his red hair and hazel green eyes, and a natural, freckled complexion. Also included are photos of similar guitars. In one of the photos, the guitar is much more blonde (not darkened by time) that is the correct color for the guitar body. That guitar has a dark pickguard -- this is the correct color. The other photos of the red-ish, somewhat translucent pickguard is NOT the correct pickguard color for the guitar.

The photo of the guitar with my dad sitting on a couch is probably the best color.

The deliverable is a high resolution (1200 DPI ??) JPG or PNG.

The contest is to use the uploaded photos as color information to guide your skilled colorization of the high resolution 1200 DPI scans uploaded to the DropBox link included in the Contest Description.

Guitar strap – Tan Leather, raised embossed letters. - Best if it looks like the strap in uploaded photo “Dad & FT110-N Epi (2).jpg”
Guitar body – Maple, tan, slightly yellowed. Best if it looks like the guitar in uploaded photo “Dad & FT110-N Epi (2).jpg” and in “Epi 1.jpg”
Guitar pick guard – Several photos were uploaded to show the detail of the rope and cactus. Best if it looks like the guitar pick guard in uploaded photos “Dad & FT110-N Epi (2).jpg” and in “Epi 1.jpg”
Guitar head stock -- Best if it looks like the head stock in uploaded photo “Epi 2.jpg” The tuning keys are yellowed as is the inlay at the center of the headstock and the word “Epiphone”. The Greek “E” and the trim of the truss rod adjustment cover plate (on the headstock) are white and not yellowed.
Guitar Neck – The neck is Rosewood, which is a very deep red, nearly brown-black. The mother of peal inlays are nearly white (not yellowed). Best if it looks like the neck in uploaded photo “Epi 6.jpg”
Dad’s skin color is best if it looks like the photo “Dad 3.jpg”.
Dad’s hair color is best if it looks like the photo “Dad 2.jpg” and the color of his beard in “Dad 3.jpg”.
Dad’s eyes are hazel - best if it looks like the photo “Dad 2.jpg” and “Dad 3.jpg”.

    I deleted everything previously marked as a 1 star.
    Tomorrow I will delete everything currently marked as a 2 star.

    I see that some entries have included what looks like a copy & paste of the newer pickguards of new guitars, probably a photo directly from the Epiphone website. I like this, however 1) most of those who did this made it much too "perfect" and it doesn't fit well with the look of the rest of the materials in the original photo. I do VERY MUCH like getting the detail into the pickguard, but it would need to not look brand-new-perfect. Also, 2) there are several versions of that pickguard and so the photos online don't always match the one in the promo photo you are restoring. I suggest looking at my uploaded photo "Dad & FT110-N Epi (3).jpg" to compare the color detail in the pickguard.

      Timothy, please note that all entries submitted get compressed by Freelancer servers for protection. Much of the detail is lost in all of the entries. If you want to see specific detail it's best to contact us (freelancers) and ask for area crops in 1:1 quality ratio. I can send you those so you see the full texture and editing in detail. It's also worth noting that Freelancer compression also alters entry color slightly due to compression and some elements get blurred and mixed with other color elements. With this being a high res scan recovery color is important.
