Síntese do concurso

We require a name and logo for a start-up web business that will list small-to-medium growers/farmers and their products in Australia, New Zealand, the US, and the UK. The grower audience comprises small backyard growers up to the larger medium-sized enterprises, who will appear on the website and have their farm information, and other relevant information listed.

The logo must be easily-recognizable and appeal to both producers using the site to promote their product, and to the general public wishing to find producers or products on the site. Therefore it must be easily remembered and easily spelled to assist with web searches.

The website will be clean and simple, with vivid colours. The feel will be professional producer/grower rather than country or farmhouse style. There will be an emphasis on sustainable practices and organic farming. The name and logo need to reflect these values/ideals.

CONSTRAINTS
The name must be available as .com, .com.au, .co.nz, and .co.uk domain names when the competition closes for judging.

The name and logo must be unique and not infringe any existing copyrights, trademarks or any other creative work protection legislation in the Australian, New Zealand, US and UK jurisdictions. Ownership and all rights to the name and logo will transfer to us at the end of this competition.

The winning entry or entries must provide the creative work in both .pdf and Adobe InDesign/Illustrator (CS6 compatible) digital files to us.

Hi Entrants, thank you for all the excellent entries - how exciting!. There are some really lovely designs. I'd take at least ten of them ;-) so I'm going to turn to my adjudicators and run a poll to get further opinions - so I'll announce a winner late in the week. Cheers, Ceri

Hi the haystak name comes from haystack - being linked with farms and also the term 'finding a needle in a haystack' - ie. this website brings order to the 'haystak' so you can find the product/producer that you'd otherwise spend a vast amount of time trying to source. As we all know, google is now a bit of an undisciplined 'haystack'!. A slogan such as 'finding producers and their product made easy' would suit though it's not catchy - have to work on that one too.

Hi contestants, while it's been great to see some really nice looking logos popping up, the names have not hit the mark for us. In light of this I've come up with a name (no need to check availability) which you can use your creative talents on to do a logo. The name is 'haystak'. I'll certainly judge all entries equally but so far there would not be a winner based on name so it's made things a bit difficult. Hopefully with a name to play with the creativity can now be fully focussed on the logo aspect. Cheers, Ceri PS. Please feel free to send me a message if you don't think this is a fair outcome.

Hello Ceribee.. It is a good name tho. But I have a question; what does it has to do with farms, farmers, meat, milk, organic and such? Anyways.. If you like it, we can start working on an actual design based on your name. Thank you and wait for the next post..

Hi Nattarious, as the more prodigious entrant I wanted to thank you for all your entries. I have posted a general message that we're going to use 'haystak' as a name as we haven't found any names so far that work for us. Whereas some of the logos have been very good, including yours. Cheers, Ceri

Hi, thanks for the entries so far - they are very inventive. I thought I might clarify a little further on the website. The general public need to see the site as the premier place to go to research 'local' product and/or farmers/producers. The site might be used to source organic meat and dairy to a top city restaurant, or by someone who wants to find a good supplier/farmer of walnuts, or maybe by a couple wanting to do a sightseeing trip around to local growers who have farm stalls for a day out, and so on. When we advertise this site on billboards, the name and logo must instantly attract attention and quickly convey these possibilities or be a quirky twist on the idea that just stays in your mind. Designers I hate to say it but think 'advertising'! Cheers, Ceri

Hi mNorbert, you keep popping up but never submit any designs. I'm only interested in the competition at hand so unless you are submitting a design please do not leave your advertising disguised as a query about this competition.

Dear contest holder, as I understand, this is a brand new business, the logo has to match the name and the domain name according to the listed domain extensions. The with the domain online search tools is: In most of domain name service providers, when it comes to a domain search and the domain is available, once 2 or 3 people check it again from different regions, their system bots puts it on park automatically so people would buy it more expensive. I am willing to enter the contest, for I have one request please. DO NOT RUN an domain name checks from your regional address/ip, don't let your friends and/or partners to check it until the contest is done.

Also as I understood, you want to purchase the domain(s) .com, .com.au, .co.nz, and .co.uk at once? or any of them will work? Please verify. Thanks in advance

    Hi entrants.
We will run the full competition period (10 days) but will not extend the competition close date. This means everyone gets a good chance to enter and the winner gets their money in good time. Feel free to ask questions - I'll be monitoring the competition every day or two.
Looking forward to the ideas coming in. Cheers, Ceri
