THIS BRIEF IS ALSO ATTACHED IN THE 'FILES'. PLEASE MAKE ANY CLARIFICATION QUESTIONS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
We are looking to step away from our current label and bottle designs to have a 'sleeker' and more professional design aesthetic, but without looking too 'corporate' or leaving our artisanal and hand-crafted nature of the product behind. Classy, but not aloof of pretentious, we are looking for a slightly ‘retro/vintage’ style to highlight that we make things how they used to be made rather than to follow any current ‘vintage’ fashions.
We would like to promote the fact that we are British made, hand crafted in small batches, but without being too ‘tacky’.
The main label should be easily legible from ‘back bar’ distance – so circa 6 feet away.
Bottle Information: Green Bottle, Black Screw Cap
Our imaginings so far (but please feel free to explore outside the box):
General impression is for a black on white ½ wrap bottle label. That’s not to say that the entire thing must be monochrome, only that we’re not looking to be too distracted by colour- it should have a purpose rather than be a distraction from the main event. We have considered a washed out Union flag behind the main logo which might clash with the more monochrome scheme, but it’s up to you – we’ve not considered a monochrome union jack – so might be worth looking in to.
Different flavours will incorporate different ‘highlight’ colours – the lemonade would have a yellow pinstripe through the word “Lemonade”, mojito would incorporate a green pinstripe through the word “Mojito”, elderflower pressé would be cream, ginger beer could be light brown – you get the idea.
We would like to incorporate the bar-code into the design, rather than as a separate entity – please see our in-house doodle (attached) for the idea. Example barcode image in both TIF & EPS are attached.
We believe that a border will be necessary. If the designer goes with a more ‘hand written’ look to the front of label text then perhaps a more ‘sketch’ style border would work well.
Label Height: 54mm
Label Length: 110mm
Front of label:
“The Lemonade”, and barcode if it can be successfully incorporated.
Secondary Information/Side Panels: (please note, that on the label sketch in the uploaded file which has two side panels, they are too far apart, and should only be separated from the 'main' front image/border by 1-2mm.)
Images and text can be overlapped if designer chooses, with the exception of the Blenheim Palace logo which MUST be 'stand-alone'.
Text can be rotated at 90degrees to better improve layout.
Bar code must be incorporated, and must have a high contrast (but not necessarily black on white) to be machine readable.
All text must be legible
