Contest Brief

Good day friends and colleagues.

I need a logo for a new coffee shop called DULCET CAFE. The word Dulcet means sweet sounding in English but stems from the word Dulce in Spanish/Latin that means sweets. This cafe has the motto: Pure, Black and Sweet - The Best Coffee on the Street. (Or - Our Coffee Can't Be Beat).

I need to incorporate coffee into the logo somehow with other features like purity and excellence visually represented. It needs to be UNIQUE and not generic (no coffee cups, etc.). I have no other directions to give you at present and hope to get some great and varied ideas. Do a great job with this and I may hire you to do other work for the cafe like the menu design and so forth.

I will be active in providing feedback usually within a few hours of you posting something. Please don't copy other people's work. Whenever someone comes up with a great concept I will message them and give them my feedback on how they can make it better. As long as they keep responding and adjusting, the concept belongs to them and I will stay loyal. I'm sure all of you are very creative so I strongly encourage you to devise your own ideas.

To help you guys with original ideas, I am attaching an image I came up with (sorry for the horrible art - its the best I could on a computer). It uses a portafilter head for an espresso machine with the drop being the apostrophe for the word Cafe and a circle around the logo representing a saucer with the motto written in it.

Hello Suenj - I like your original idea of using latte art. Its nice. I don't like the fonts or the heart as that also is well represented on google images but you're on to something otherwise

You said that you don't want a picture contain "coffe". But why there's a high rated logo with the "coffe" things.

  I sent messages to the designers that I don't like the coffee mug but I like their colors and font usage. That is why they rated higher but I won't choose a winner with a generic design as I have repeated. Thank you for your good question and for keeping the contest honest.

  And for clarity I didn't say I don't want coffee related images - this is a coffee shop of course. I said I don't want generic images. This means the logo should have a UNIQUE and ICONIC image associated with it that will be recognized as a brand. This is where I'm looking for the creativity of the designers. There may be ways to make a coffee cup look iconic and unique but so far as has been shown, people have been taking images from elsewhere instead of coming up with their own unique and original ideas
