Contest Brief

COMPANY PROFILE:
Our company name is ‘Darin Partners’. We are a brand new business and we serve high value, high profile clients. We invest in UK property (real estate) on behalf of our clients. Our clients will be predominantly from Saudi Arabia but also other GCC countries (at least to begin with). We invest using GCC equity but with valuable British knowhow and a deep understanding of the British real estate market.

Although our clients will be mostly GCC family offices, our office is in London and we employ a small number of staff. One of the company’s founding partners is from Saudi Arabia and two more are from the GCC area.

THE STORY BEHIND THE COMPANY NAME:
Our company name has a huge historical significance:
A hundred years ago, in 1915, the ‘Darin Pact’ (also known as the ‘Treaty of Darin’) was signed between the United Kingdom and Abdul-Aziz Al Saud who would go on to found the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This formed a strong and historical alliance, which exists to this day and for the foreseeable future. The British were the first country to recognise the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The pact was named as such because it was signed on an island off the coast of Saudi Arabia, and that island is called Darin. Wikipedia has a small page about the treaty / pact : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_of_Darin

AIMS / OBJECTIVES
We want to strengthen and continue to build on that relationship of trust between the kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the British, and to add our contribution to the next 100 years and beyond.

As it will be the 100 year anniversary of the Darin pact, we believe it is great timing for us to use the name ‘Darin Partners’ for our company. We want to celebrate the name, the pact, the two countries fruitful history together in the past 100 years, and we want to acknowledge the close relationship.

HOW WE WANT TO BE PERCEIVED
The logo needs look very professional and appeal to high value, high profile clients. We need to express excellence and trustworthiness. These may be cliché buzzwords that you may hear in any logo design brief, however our business is particularly relationship-based and we will be trusted with how best to spend our clients’ money.

The significance of the story behind the Darin pact adds a lot of weight to our company name, and therefore the logo will be responsible for upholding the value associated with the history. The timing of the anniversary means that our company will be in the spotlight.

CREATIVE DIRECTION
We are fully open to any ideas that you may have. In the logo, we have thought about perhaps including the national animal of Britain, the lion (or three lions as it is sometimes shown) and either the Arabian sword (the ‘Scimitar’) or the Arabian horse (but it should be a white horse). But please do not feel that you must use these symbols - we are really excited to see your alternative ideas too. We think it should include the words ‘DP’ or ‘Darin Partners’.

We are currently having a website designed, and it will have the look and feel of this existing website: http://www.henleyinvestments.com/ . This website (not the logo) has the style, mood and atmosphere that we want to express in our branding, so please bear this in mind when designing our logo.
