Contest Brief
This project involves designing a trendy and classy restaurant logo that will be based in the heart of Shanghai. It is important that the logo can stand the test of time as we plan to open multiple chain stores.
Our restaurant concept is fresh high quality food in a lively, buzzing atmosphere providing Cantonese food. The target market that we aim to attract are 20-35 year old and therefore must appeal to the young professional crowd in Shanghai and must be artistic as well as staying true to our name - Fire and Wood, the Chinese characters for this company are 有木有火.
Logo must include the English and Chinese name. At this moment in time we would like to go with the English writing being more pronounced.
Please try not to incorporate a bowl and chopsticks into the logo but we feel this is overused and lacks originality.
If you are using fire in your logo please use your creative skills to make something that hints at a fire but isn't a classic obvious flame. There are a lot of logos just using a classic flame look but we feel this is not creative enough

since it is getting close to deadline we are rejecting alot of logos now. This is a very hard decision for us since it will come down to a board discussion amongst 6 people. There are some excellent designers here and we will certainly be sorry that such talented people may lose the competition!

This is the situation, we have not chosen a logo yet. Every day about 10 new logos appear for us to look at on top of those that are continually reinventing their logo. We cannot afford to give those logos which are too far from what we want any time as this would be poor use of time and defer the time we can spend on logos that are nearest to what we wish for. We appreciate the time and effort you do spend on your logos however.

My personal favourites (not representative of whole board) are: viju3iyer and Yiama's.
They are vastly different but both fit our criteria. Viju3iyer's has a unique graphic with a circle and smoke coming out, but it is done with class and art. The font is classy and clear. He has also put all of those designs into one picture so it hasn't spam my page (easier to navigate for us)
Yiama's on the other hand is also a very cool unique logo. We feel this logo could fit into any metropolitan city in the world. We feel it has a good London fashionable design to it. The letters are arranged very interestingly.- 11 years ago

In general 3 stars are given to logos the company likes at this point in time, you can see there are big variations in design because we feel the top logos do follow our brief. We are looking for original ideas, not just "Fire and Wood" written in a partcular font, and then the chinese characters written next to it.

Our decor will be composed of light wood similar to "element fresh" decor in Shanghai. Feel free to google Element fresh's decor (please note however we do not want a logo like theirs). But if you have an idea of the decor we are going for this should give some indication or logo design. Some of the logo designs we are seeing look more like they belong with a fast food restaurant, which we are not. We are a restaurant targeting 21 - 35 Year Olds. The logo must be artistic, trendy and original.
