We need a logo for "NC Tourism".

The "NC" is for North Carolina (a state in the United States of America).
Here's the Wikipedia page for North Carolina: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Carolina

North Carolina has mountains, coast line and flat land. It is known for the Wright Brothers first flight in 1903, all of its lighthouses, its beaches, colleges, NASCAR racing and more.

We want a clean logo that will look good on a website as well as business cards.

The final logo should be provided in Adobe Illustrator .Ai format and should be well named layers in 100% vector. A Photoshop .PSD file is acceptable too as long as the logo is 100% vector and can scale to a very large size while remaining smooth.

One of my colleagues had a suggestion of a series of logos using a standard font where only one letter was an actual object.

For example, one logo might have the "i" in Tourism to be the Hatteras lighthouse (black and white angled striped lighthouse).
Another example would be to have a skiier skiing down the slope in the middle of the "N".
Another example would be to have the "M" to be a sketch of the Biltmore House.
Another example would be to have the walking bridge from Grandmother Mountain connecting between the two tips of the "M".
And another example would somehow have the Lin Cove Viaduct from the Blue Ridge Parkway road curving around part of the logo.
In all of the above examples, the style of font would be the same for the remaining letters.
