Contest Brief

Yuyangongfu.com is a resource for English speakers learning Chinese. It currently includes a Chinese to English dictionary, user-created vocabulary lists as well as a flashcard style vocabulary memorization tool. The target audience are students and professionals in the process of learning Mandarin Chinese. Up until this point we've been heavily focused on development and testing, and are open to new or different brand/design ideas.

The background of our name is important. Yuyangongfu (语言功夫) is a phonetic representation of two words in Chinese; 语言(yuyan) means “language”, and 功夫(gongfu), which many people know as Kung Fu, roughly translates to “skill, art, labor, effort”. If you have committed yourself to learning a foreign language and succeeded, you certainly can understand the relevance of this name.
