Contest Brief
We would like to see a new design for our front panel. The contest is pretty simple. We have an existing front interface to our product (see picture). We need a new design for the next version.
The new front panel also have a different dimension. Please see the AI file for the proper dimensions.
Background: This is a climate control device for a greenhouse grower. The users are researchers, PhD students, large operation growers, etc. In other words serious folks. The panel should have some design references back to the original 1600 model, but at the same time be a significant departure toward being a more professional, scientific design. We are looking for a clean, simple design.
Fabrication method: The panel is made of aluminum. It is then painted and silk screened. The artwork needs to be silk screenable, i.e. no fine lines and with 2 or 3 colors only.
You can do more investigating about our products from link4corp.com.
(More back ground. The is a note layer in the AI file showing you what is the purpose of each feature. The product name is iGrow 1800 and should be prominently displayed. The company name is Link4 and should be shown as well.)
We will award the design that fits our criteria right away. Please post to let us know if you are still working on something and are planning to submit one.
Thank you for your time and best of luck. If you have any questions, please post!
p.s. Just update the old file.

This would help. Please cut out the current keypad and put it in your design. Do the same for the toggle switches and LEDs. All of those components will be the same.

does this mean only the exterior design will vary and the front panel would be the same?

Other than the panel size was changed slightly, nothing has been changed. So effectively you are correct.

I think all the relevant information are there. Let me know what information do you need? We would need the winning design files. Typically in Illustrator.

I suggest that you use white as the base paint and silkscreen other colors on top of it. White (esp. power coated) is a very common color seen in the high end, research facilities. Think laboratories and hospital equipment. Use black or dark blue for the text color.

I think i understand. a few flat colors on white backgound, no gradients and maybe a little thickest shapes. Right?

Put all the important elements in there: output numbers, horizontal lines to separate the outputs, position indicators for the toggle switches (Auto | Off | On), alarms, reset. These elements will help us see how well you design actually looks.

We would like to be able to see the likeness between igrow models, however are looking for this new model to be more of a modern take. It is the new generation and should say high end, advanced, quality, etc. A digital display could very well be what is needed.
