Contest Brief
This is a device for transdermal drug delivery, that is, delivery of drugs through the skin. For this, we use a microneedle made specially using semiconductor fabrication techniques. In the attachment drawings you can see the top view and the bottom view of the designed device. Basically this employs a syringe pump as the pumping mechanism to push the fluid through a plunger-based system (as is the case in normal syringes), with the main difference here being that the needle size itself is a fraction of the commercially available ones. If you look at the bottom view, you will see the microneedle tip sticking out and 4 nos. of green legs which act as stretchers on the skin. The idea is to operate the device with one-hand while it is placed on the inner forearm of a patient for self-administration by the patient. What we seek are as follows:
1) From the given 3D diagrams, we want to make an aesthetically "nice looking" exterior of the device. The internal structures are fine and the above explanation is given so that designers don't compromise on the primary functionality of the device.
2) Perhaps, this 3D diagram could serve as the core of the device, and an outer aesthetic shell is needed. This could also incorporate a picture of a human hand pushing down on the plunger of the device while the needle is being inserted into the skin.
3) Since the violet wedge-like centre-piece resembles a shell of a turtle, it could be an idea to incorporate a turtle shell atop this centrepiece.
4) Any 3D modelling / product design / industrial design that could be done to enhance the visual appeal/aesthetics/ergonomics of the overall device, would be highly desirable.

Would it also be possible for you to show a simple view of the device as it would be applied on the forearm with the other hand (thumb pressing down on the plunger, while the other four fingers are under the forearm supporting it)? Imagine a wrist watch - thats the kind of footprint that we are talking about - 3 x 3 cm2 = 9 cm2. Total height of the device = 6 cm, so that the four fingers are placed under the forearm, while the thumb can push down on the device to insert the needle and then inject the drug into the skin...
