Using the included Access DB, create entry screens, table and reports for to track quotes, customers, layaways, and payments. Entry screens must look like a standalone program and not part of Access.
Multiple quotes per customer,
be able to convert any quote to a layaway.
Layaways to be calculated as by week, bi-weekly or monthly. We need to choose which and say how many payments.
Layaway fee of $5.00 minimum total Calculated as $1.00 per week added to payment of $5.00 to first payment whichever is largest,
Ability to cancel a layaway with an option to add a restock fee or forfeiture of money paid.
Ability to import to Products Table from Excel, (sample included). Need to be able to choose the manufacturer it is for and import as follows. If item number exits update pricing, If does not exist add to inventory. Different manufacture could have same inventory number.
Reports to include,
layaways outstanding and past due, Layaways due next 7 days
Import the zip code file into a new table for zip codes (included) . Customer maintenance should use zip code to auto bring in City and state.
Product Table
Do away with list price and add 3 fields. Freight as a percentage, markup as a percentage and Discount markup as a percentage.
Quotes and layaway entry screens need a checkbox for discount yes/no.
Price per item is calculated as
(cost*(1+freight)) * (1+markup) Markup based on yes/no discount . No=markup yes= discount markup.

Hi. Setting up the customer and product entry screen has been pretty simple. Please clarify on the formula for calculating the price per item. One of the variables is COST; where can I get the values for this? In your requirements you mentioned that we should do away with the price list field.

Hello..I tried to work on this project and read your description a lot of times. But I still do not get a clear understanding of what you exactly mean by entry screens, what should be entered by the users in these entry screens, what information do we have on quotes etc.. May be this is the reason with other freelancers as well. Can you please rephrase your requirements in a step by step manner. I am sure you will get a lot of responses since it sounds to be a very interesting project. Hope you got what I am trying to say. Thank You for posting the contest.

Layaway (lay-by in Australia, New Zealand)[1] is an agreement in which the seller reserves an item for a consumer until the consumer completes all the payments necessary to pay for that item. Rather than taking the item home and then repaying the debt on a regular schedule, as in most installment plans or hire purchases, the layaway customer does not receive the item until it is completely paid for. There is sometimes a fee associated, since the seller must "lay" the item "away" in storage until the payments are completed. Because there is little risk involved for the seller, layaway can be readily offered to those with bad credit. If the transaction is not completed, the item is returned to stock and the customer's money is returned minus a fee.
