Sustainable weekend house in the tropics

Contest Brief

We need applied designs for 3 or 4 typologies of great and practical sustainable houses in the spirit of the highest standards such as GBC and LEED. Practical means using technology that doesn't need maintenance expertise, preferably using materials and equipment that can be found in the Northeast of Brazil and with good resistance to the climate. We have lots of sun, wind, sand, humidity and salty air. Therefor corrosion, heat, wear, shade and ventilation are important issues here. To us sustainability is first of all a matter of beauty. Beauty stays and technology will age, nevertheless we need to conserve our ending natural resources. In this particular case we envision constructions that could dissolve in our lush natural surroundings or on the contrary sparkle in a conflict with it. A great challenge for inspired and creative professionals.

We are asking clear concepts and for sketches up to 3D modeling of styles. We might pick more than one winner. The shortlisted are selected to also compete for a design of a demo house for the various typologies. PLEASE ENTER ONLY PROPOSALS DETAILED IN OUR PROJECT. GENERAL ENTRIES WILL BE IGNORED.

Location Ceará Brazil, 1 km from the beach inside a valley surrounded by dunes
Sizes of houses are 100 to 400 m2 with 2 to 4 suites
Plot sizes 450 - 1350 m2 and constructed areas of 150 to 600 m2
Market: High-end users for private use and/or rental
Houses will be situated in a park with artificial lakes (11.000 m2 of water surface) and on a slope with ocean views
The house on the slopes with ocean views are preferably one floor and could be partly under ground. Houses situated lower could be up to 3 or even 4 floors. Houses around the lake should be only one floor and ones situated further away two floors.
Area of project 24 hectares of land for construction within a space of 100 ha of private owned land with 30 hectares landscape designed green areas and 40 hectares of environmental protected areas with moving and fixed dunes.

      Its very simple, I will take your program "Scope of Work", design the house of your dreams that will be esthetically pleasing with a Southern Caribbean style. Create plans, framing plans, elevations and electrical plan for you to pull a permit. If you are not able, then I will have my partner fly to the site location a pull the permit for you.
