I am developing a CO2 cartridge based parachute deployment system for high altitude amateur rockets. There are many dual deployment altimeters already available to the hobby community. I need an electronic circuit that will take the apogee deploy signal from any altimeter and instead of firing a Pyro match to light a black powder charge, the signal will latch a solid state relay for a period of time and drive a micro actuator. The actuator will release a mechanical trigger that will puncture a CO2 cartridge. After a few seconds, I need a reverse current to retract the 12 volt micro actuator before powering off so as to not burn out the actuator. The iPad app needs to record audio from an external interface (an Apogee Quartet), and at the same time record the values of the accelerometer, magnetometer, etc. Some way of getting the sound and data files off the ipad must be The interface should be very simple: record/stop, with visual feedback while recording.
