I setup a Joomla site for a small local chess club many years ago, it has been migrated one time before around 4 years ago due to the same issue. Now the web host is running PHP 7.4 but will change to PHP 8 in a weeks time. It turns out the current Joomla setup is not compatible with with 8.0 and therefore some changes/migration is needed. I believe this should be a relative small task for someone with knowledge?! The task will be to just "get it running as is" with PHP 8.0. The webhost control panel has an option to switch php version so you can see the current problems. However, in a weeks time it will not be possible to use other version than PHP 8.0.
