I’m producing the opening title sequence for Broken Compass, a new travel show from our 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Operation North Star. I’m looking for a skilled creator or small studio to produce a 30-second, AI-assisted 2D animation that feels lighthearted, visually expressive, slapstick-humorous, and universally charming. The sequence will have no dialogue or voice-over, so every situation and punchline must be visually understandable within a few seconds. The animation follows a cartoon version of our host bouncing rapidly from one destination to the next. A small compass should remain visible somewhere on his clothing or travel bag throughout the sequence, establishing it before it becomes important in the final scene. 0:00–0:04 — Egypt: The Camel The host poses for a photograph with the Egyptian pyramids behind him. Just as the camera shutter clicks, a camel sneaks into the frame and licks the side of his face. The resulting photograph captures his startled expression. 0:04–0:09 — Morocco: The Tea Pour A Moroccan host gracefully pours tea from high above a small glass. Our host confidently attempts to imitate him but raises the teapot much too high. He frantically moves the glass beneath the stream, trying—and largely failing—to catch the tea. The Moroccan host watches with good-natured amusement. The mishap should remain playful, with no one harmed. 0:09–0:15 — Japan: The Greeting The host extends his hand to greet a Japanese man just as the man bows. The host withdraws his hand and bows just as the Japanese man extends his hand for a handshake. They both switch again. Completely flustered, the host finally gives an awkward salute, causing the Japanese man to laugh warmly. 0:15–0:20 — Ireland: The Céilí The host enthusiastically joins a lively Irish céilí despite clearly having no idea what he is doing. He steps in the wrong direction, becomes caught in a rapid partner turn, and continues spinning after everyone else has stopped. He stumbles harmlessly out of the dance while the other dancers smile and continue effortlessly. 0:20–0:27 — The Jungle: The Stolen Compass Now in a tropical jungle, the dizzy host removes his compass and studies it, trying to regain his bearings. A monkey suddenly swings down, snatches the compass from his hand, and disappears into the trees. The shocked host races after it. From a branch, the monkey curiously turns the compass over and shakes it, making the needle spin wildly. The host reaches up for it, but the monkey casually drops or tosses it aside. The host dives to catch it and narrowly misses. The compass lands crystal-first on a rock with a sharp crack. 0:27–0:30 — Logo Reveal Cut to an extreme close-up of the broken compass. Cracks spread across its clear crystal as the needle continues spinning uncontrollably beneath it. The compass face then transforms smoothly into the Broken Compass logo. The music lands on its final beat as the tagline appears: “Lost on purpose, found in adventure.” Creative Direction Transitions between countries should be quick, fluid, and visually playful. The recurring idea is that cultural encounters and small travel misadventures escalate harmlessly, with the host always serving as the butt of the joke. Local people should appear capable, welcoming, and amused by his confusion. Every gag must remain affectionate, harmless, and free from cultural caricatures or demeaning stereotypes. The intended style is classic visual comedy: energetic and slightly absurd but warmhearted, with no one being injured and everyone ultimately sharing the moment. The show’s theme music has already been produced, so there is no need to source additional music. The animation must be timed precisely to the supplied 30-second musical cue. Visually, I prefer clean, colorful 2D artwork with crisp linework, expressive character animation, and smooth motion. Snappy, quick-cut scene changes will keep the pace lively and help sell the humor. The host’s appearance, clothing, proportions, and overall design must remain consistent from scene to scene. Visible AI artifacts—including distorted hands, changing facial features, unintended extra limbs, inconsistent clothing, or background elements that shift unpredictably—will need to be corrected before final delivery. Photos of the host, the Broken Compass logo, brand colors, the theme music, and other necessary reference materials will be provided at the beginning of the project. Production Approach An AI-assisted pipeline may be used, including Runway, Adobe Animate with generative assistance, Toon Boom, Stable Diffusion, or a comparable setup. However, I am looking for a creator who can combine these tools with genuine animation, editing, storytelling, and comedic timing—not simply assemble uncorrected AI-generated clips. Please identify the principal software and AI tools you expect to use. The production workflow should allow reasonable changes to character design, timing, individual gags, transitions, and branding without requiring the entire sequence to be recreated. Production Milestones The selected creator will be expected to provide: • Initial character design and style frames for approval • A storyboard or timed animatic covering the complete 30-second sequence • One polished 10–15-second sample during production so we can confirm the tone, character consistency, motion, and pacing • A complete draft for review • A final corrected version and delivery of the agreed project materials Please state how many revision rounds are included in your proposal. I would prefer at least one reasonable revision round following the storyboard or animatic and two following delivery of the complete draft. Deliverables • One completed 30-second 2D animated opening title sequence synchronized precisely to the supplied theme music • 4K and 1080p H.264 final exports • A high-quality editing master, preferably Apple ProRes or a comparable professional format • A clean picture-only version without music, if technically practical • Editable project files, timelines, layered artwork, and other source materials needed for future revisions • The final prompts, settings, workflows, or other AI-generation information reasonably necessary to reproduce or revise the work • A list of any third-party fonts, stock elements, AI models, plug-ins, sound effects, or licensed materials incorporated into the project • If separately quoted and agreed upon, an alternate vertical 9:16 version for social media Ownership, Confidentiality, and Creator Credit Upon final payment, Operation North Star must receive ownership of the approved animation and its project-specific editable source materials. The selected creator will be asked to sign a straightforward project agreement covering ownership, deliverables, payment, confidentiality, and permitted use before production begins. Photographs of the host, his likeness, the Broken Compass name and logo, theme music, scripts, reference materials, and other assets supplied for this project may be used only to create this title sequence and its approved revisions. They may not be reused for unrelated projects, shared publicly, posted as work in progress, placed in a portfolio or showreel, or used for AI training without prior written permission. Any third-party materials incorporated into the animation must be legally cleared for the intended broadcast, streaming, promotional, and social-media uses. Please disclose any licensing requirements or restrictions before using them. The creator or studio will receive an on-screen credit in the closing credits of full Broken Compass episodes, normally reading: “Opening Title Animation by [Creator or Studio Name]” We respect and intend to acknowledge the creator’s contribution. These protections are simply intended to keep the project’s branding, music, likeness, and production materials secure while ensuring that both sides clearly understand how the finished work may be used. Acceptance Criteria The final sequence must: • Run approximately 30 seconds and synchronize precisely with the supplied music • Communicate every gag clearly without dialogue or voice-over • Maintain a consistent depiction of the host throughout • Keep the host—not local cultures or individuals—as the target of the comedy • Avoid demeaning stereotypes or cultural caricatures • Use smooth, energetic animation and quick, readable transitions • Resolve cleanly into the supplied Broken Compass logo and tagline • Remain visually consistent with the brand materials provided • Contain no obvious AI-generation errors, watermarks, unauthorized assets, or unresolved placeholders Please Include in Your Proposal • Examples of relevant 2D character animation, title-sequence work, or polished AI-assisted animation • A brief description of your proposed production pipeline • The software and AI services you intend to use • Confirmation that you can provide editable source files • Confirmation that supplied materials will remain confidential and will not be used for unrelated work or AI training • Your anticipated production schedule • The number of revision rounds included • Your total fixed-price quote • A separate optional quote for a vertical 9:16 version, if offered If you enjoy combining AI-assisted production with classic animation timing, visual storytelling, and affectionate physical comedy, this should be a fun little globe-trotting project. Let’s make travelers smile before the episode even begins.

This project sounds like a fantastic opportunity to create something truly memorable. Capturing the whimsical tone and playful misadventures of your host is key. If the animation doesn't hit the mark, it might fall flat and lose that charm, which is vital for engaging your audience. I would start by developing character design and style frames that reflect that lighthearted spirit. I’d use smooth transitions and energetic pacing to keep viewers smiling, ensuring every gag is visually clear. I’ll make sure the compass plays a vital role throughout, setting up the punchline effectively. I understand the importance of revisions, and I’m committed to getting it just right. I’d love to know more about your timeline for this project and if you have any existing assets that we should incorporate. How do you envision the initial character designs?

Hi! A 30-second intro with six distinct scenes and a character that needs to read instantly in each one is a genuinely tight brief — the comedy only lands if the gag is visually clear within 2-3 seconds, which means every scene needs almost no setup. The storyboard you've written is already solid — the camel lick, the spinning out of the céilí, the monkey and the compass crack are all strong visual punchlines that don't need dialogue to work. I'd build each scene so the local character always looks competent and warm, and the host's confusion is the joke — which keeps the humour affectionate rather than awkward. Do you have the Broken Compass logo ready, and is there a music track already chosen or should I source something that fits the whimsical tone?

Keeping the host’s look identical across five fast‑changing locales is the linchpin for audience clarity, especially when the comedy relies on visual punchlines alone. I will use an AI‑assisted workflow—Adobe Animate together with Runway generative tools—to craft clean linework, then manually refine any artefacts so the timing syncs perfectly with your 30‑second cue. Snappy cuts timed to the music will let each cultural gag land clearly before the next scene. I’ll provide style frames, a timed animatic and a 10‑second sample, with one storyboard revision and two post‑draft revisions, and deliver all layered files and AI prompt details securely.
