I want to give Ottawa Vintage Radio Club members and the public an online space where they can step inside our collection, wander at their own pace, and learn. The experience should feel like a small, lovingly-curated museum whose sole purpose is education: visitors will open high-resolution scans of antiquarian technical books, watch period-correct radio footage, and inspect virtual radios contributed by our members. Platform expectations The build must run on an ordinary tower computer or a modern tablet—no dedicated headset required. A WebGL / WebXR approach ([login to view URL], [login to view URL], A-Frame, Unity WebGL, or similar) seems most practical, but I am open to alternatives that keep installation friction low. Interaction model Navigation and object interaction should be strictly point-and-click. Users move by clicking hotspots or floor arrows, then click objects to zoom, page through a book, or play a video. Please avoid gesture or voice controls so the experience remains accessible to every age group. Core content areas • Library: virtual shelves leading to 30+ scanned technical volumes (PDF or high-res image viewer). • Screening Room: looping playlist of radio-related videos, ideally streamed from a self-hosted source. • Showcase Gallery: 3D models of radios with the ability to rotate, zoom, and read a short provenance note. I Deliverables • Complete VR museum scene(s) including lighting, textures, and intuitive UI overlays. • Integration of provided PDFs, video URLs, and OBJ/GLTF radio models. • Source files and build pipeline so we can update content ourselves. • Deployment instructions for both a local kiosk setup and a web-hosted version. Acceptance criteria • Loads in the latest Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge on desktop plus iPad/Android tablets without plugins. • Smooth navigation at 60 fps on mid-range hardware. • All books legible at 100 % zoom; videos play without buffering; models render without missing textures. • Documentation clear enough for our club’s technically-minded volunteers to maintain. If this sounds like a project you can bring to life, let’s discuss your preferred engine, any additional assets you may need from us, and a realistic timeline for a first playable ap Here’s my latest version of the TOR for your review… = The Ottawa Vintage Radio Club (OVRC). Is a non-profit organization, whose members collect antique radios and radio-related ephemera, such as loudspeakers, special electron tubes, antique books on the radio art, etc. As a non-profit entity We will not require subscriptions, memberships, or any e-commerce functionality. OVRC wants to develop a virtual museum, in which there will be a library, a video theatre, and an exhibit hall. Although the OVRC is a private club, the museum would be available for use by the general public. To accomplish this goal, we suggest that it might be possible to integrate some off-the-shelf software into a custom-built Web site, which is the objective of this project. Two such software packages are: - Theasys Virtual Tour Creator (see [login to view URL]) - Alfa ebook manager (see [login to view URL]) Alternatively, check out a s/w package called DearFlipbook. It is a 3D “flip book” PDF reader and It appears to have most of the functionality that Alfa eBooks has. The “PRO” version has the bookshelf functionalitity. This is a WordPress plug-in. Theasys could provide a mens of moving through the museum, and responding to hotspot selections, as well as storing the opening animation equence, special constructions such as the various rooms, the library shelves with books installed, the theatre view as seen when the door opens, and the ability to edit when required, as when you are adding books to the shelves (or this latter might be a function of the alfaEbooks or equivalent s/w). The Alfa ebooks s/w, or it’s equivalent, would form the basis of the library, starting with about 50 books, rising eventually to about 100 books, and perhaps more. It will also provide a page-turning function and allow for single pages to be copied, up to a preset limit, yet to be decided. It will also allow for the posting of notices, such as "book removed for repair" etc. The goal would be to initially allow up to one dozen simultaneous visitors, and hopefully more, in the future. In the event that all visitor spots are in use, club members should have priority. We hope. That ultimately we will be able to accommodate true 3D images in the exhibit hall, using left and right still and video imagery and red/cyan viewing glasses. This is not a requirement for this RFQ. Data formats: - we expect that the project will use WordPress to build the Web site - a USER GUIDE will be in PDF format with no printing restrictions - all books will be in PDF format - Opening animation will be in mp4 (a copy will be provided separately) - All videos will be in mp4 - sound recordings will be in mp3 - still photos will be JPG format. Our budget is about $3,500 (three thousand, five hundred Cdn $$). There will be three design reviews, (dates TBD) each with a $1000 progress payment. The first design review will be intended to ensure that our museum goals are understood. The second design review will, among other things , define the several hot-spots. The final $500 will be a holdback until the Project is satisfactorily delivered. We also require separate bids for on-going future support, at a daily rate, with. Inflation considered, to the year 2030. This will be to cover support, such as for WordPress s/w updates, plugin updates, etc. These need to be managed and troubleshot if there are issues; plus some consultation services, also quoted [login to view URL] a daily basis. And for reference only, here is an article on software for VR museums: (on cloud [login to view URL]) : Virtual Tour Software for Museums: A Complete Guide To note: Personnel working on this project must live and work in the area of Ottawa, ON, Canada. Foreign entities cannot be considered. The OVRC will pay any costs associated with the use of Zoom for remote meetings. In- person meetings, such as design reviews, will be held at the client’s apartment. Address will be provided later, There are just two persons representing the OVRC. Names will be provided later. Two graphics will be provided in due course: The opening animation snd A simulation of the 3 doors leading to the theatre, the library, and the exhibition hall

Hello, I understand you want an interactive WebGL-based VR museum for the Ottawa Vintage Radio Club, accessible on desktops and tablets without headsets. I propose using WordPress with Theasys (or similar) for navigation and Alfa eBooks/flipbook software for the library. The library will handle PDFs with page-turning and notices, the screening room will stream MP4 videos, and the exhibit hall will display 3D radio models (OBJ/GLTF) with zoom and rotation. Navigation will be strictly point-and-click for accessibility. Workflow: 1) Setup WordPress and required plugins; 2) Build museum scenes and configure hotspots; 3) Integrate media and 3D models; 4) Implement opening animation and navigation sequences; 5) Optimize for smooth 60 fps on mid-range hardware; 6) Produce documentation and user guide; 7) Conduct three design reviews. The system will allow future visitor scaling and optional stereoscopic 3D support. Deliverables: complete VR museum scenes, source files, deployment instructions, remote training, and maintenance guidance. All books, videos, and models will load reliably, with intuitive interaction and editable content for OVRC volunteers. Questions: 1. Will all 3D models and media be provided in final formats, or do some need processing? 2. Should the museum support local kiosk deployment or only web hosting? Thanks, Asif

Hello, I’m very excited about the opportunity to help the Ottawa Vintage Radio Club create a virtual museum that brings your collection to the public. I have experience building interactive WebGL/Unity WebGL experiences that run smoothly in browsers and on tablets, and I can design a point-and-click navigation system that feels intuitive and museum-like. The project will feature three core areas: a Library with 50–100 PDF books displayed on virtual shelves with page-turning functionality, a Screening Room with looping MP4 videos, and a Showcase Gallery with 3D models of radios that users can rotate, zoom, and read provenance notes. I can integrate your opening animation, hotspot navigation, and media assets while ensuring the experience runs at 60 FPS on mid-range hardware and loads reliably in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and iPad/Android tablets without plugins. Deliverables will include the complete WebGL build, organized source files with a maintainable structure, clear documentation for updating content, and deployment instructions for both local kiosk and web-hosted versions. I will also ensure accessibility for multiple simultaneous visitors, with the ability to prioritize club members when needed. The platform will be built with future expandability in mind, including the eventual addition of stereoscopic 3D content. Best regards, Muhammad Asad Ali
