I’m finalising a detailed CAD model for a knee-joint orthopaedic implant and need a skilled designer to take it across the finish line. The conceptual and preliminary work is already done; what I require now is a fully refined, manufacturable model with accurate articulating surfaces, correct clearances and production-ready documentation. Fusion360 or an equivalent parametric platform is ideal because I’ll be running FEA and CAM straight from your files, but if you prefer CATIA, NX or Inventor I’m open—so long as you can supply neutral formats as well. Deliverables I expect: • Native 3D model with clean, editable feature tree • STEP/IGES exports for universal compatibility • Annotated 2D drawings detailing tolerances, material call-outs and surface finishes Files must open error-free, follow standard orthopaedic drawing conventions and be organised so future revisions are painless. If you’ve previously worked on joint prostheses or other load-bearing implants, please mention it; that experience will help us move quickly through verification. I’m ready to start as soon as I see relevant samples of your past implant work.

Hi, A dog's stifle has its own curve and groove so the articulating surfaces have to follow the canine shape. I'd drive them from a few named parameters in Fusion 360 such as condyle radius and groove depth. Then one model makes every size and later edits won't break your FEA or CAM. First I'd rebuild your preliminary model into a clean feature tree and send a render of the surfaces to check. Then you'd get the native file and STEP and IGES plus annotated drawings. Is this one implant size or a range across breeds? What format is the preliminary model in?

Hi, I’m a mechanical/product design engineer with 5+ years of experience in precision CAD, mechanical assemblies, FEA-oriented modelling and manufacturing documentation. I can take your existing knee-joint implant concept through final CAD refinement while maintaining a clean, editable parametric model. I can support: - Accurate articulating surfaces and controlled clearances - Parametric Fusion 360/SolidWorks/Inventor modelling - FEA-ready geometry with appropriate feature structure - STEP/IGES exports - Detailed 2D drawings with tolerances, materials and surface finishes - Design-for-manufacturing considerations - Geometry and assembly checks before final delivery Because you will be using the files directly for FEA and CAM, I would focus on maintaining robust feature history, clean geometry, consistent references and a revision-friendly design structure rather than simply producing a final solid. I understand that orthopedic implants are a highly specialized and safety-critical application. I would therefore work strictly from your supplied design requirements, engineering specifications and applicable drawing/manufacturing standards, without making unsupported clinical or regulatory assumptions. I primarily work with SolidWorks, Inventor and Fusion 360 and can provide neutral STEP/IGES formats as required. Best regards,

Hello This is Mohand, a professional mechanical engineer with experience in precision CAD, parametric modeling, complex articulating mechanisms, tolerancing, and manufacturing documentation. I have worked on similar high-precision mechanical components where surface geometry, clearances, dimensional control, and manufacturability were critical. I can refine your existing knee-joint implant model into a clean, editable parametric design suitable for downstream FEA and CAM while preserving the established design intent. My deliverables and scope will include: ☑️ Refined native Fusion 360/equivalent parametric model with clean feature tree, controlled articulating surfaces, interfaces, and clearances. ☑️ STEP/IGES exports verified for geometry integrity and reliable transfer into FEA/CAM workflows. ☑️ Fully annotated 2D manufacturing drawings with tolerances, materials, surface finishes, critical dimensions, and revision-ready organization. Main questions for the project: Can you provide the current CAD model, design specifications, material requirements, and critical articulating-surface tolerances? Are there existing FEA results, manufacturing constraints, or applicable orthopedic drawing/quality standards that must be incorporated? Thank you, and I can review the existing model and provide relevant precision CAD/manufacturing examples before starting.

Hi, I can help take the existing knee-joint implant model through the final CAD refinement, focusing on clean parametric modelling, accurate mating/articulating geometry, clearances, manufacturability and properly organized documentation. I have experience with mechanical/product design using CATIA, SolidWorks and related CAD tools, including detailed 3D modelling, assemblies and manufacturing-oriented drawings. I can work with the existing design and preserve a clean, editable feature structure, then provide the required STEP/IGES exports and annotated 2D drawings with the specified tolerances, materials and surface finishes. For a project this specialized, I would first review the existing model, design requirements and applicable drawing conventions before making any geometry changes. I can also structure the model so it remains practical for your subsequent FEA and CAM workflows. I don’t want to claim previous orthopaedic implant work if that is specifically required, but I can provide relevant mechanical/product CAD samples demonstrating the type of detailed modelling and manufacturing documentation I can deliver.

The articulating surfaces need precise definition for correct joint function, so I build these directly from established biomechanical data in AutoCAD, not approximating them. I will deliver a fully refined, manufacturable model with accurate articulating surfaces, also correct clearances and production-ready documentation in Fusion 360, also providing STEP and IGES exports and annotated 2D drawings detailing tolerances, material call-outs and surface finishes. What is the specific implant size range you are targeting for this model? Send the conceptual and preliminary files so I can begin. I have a 5.0 rating across 10 reviews here and Preferred Freelancer status.

Stifle joint articulating surfaces are where a model like this usually fails in CAM, because tangent-continuity errors between the femoral condyles and the tibial insert only show up once you mill. I'd check that before drawings. I've done fabrication drawings and fixture design for aluminium profile production, plus an AutoCAD data-sync plugin. Which species and implant size range is this for, and do you already have tolerance targets for the bearing surfaces?

Hi,Eamon. I’m a Mechanical Design Engineer with 7 years of CAD experience, working primarily in SolidWorks 2025, and I can help take your existing knee-joint implant model through the final refinement and documentation stage. Since the conceptual work is already complete, I would focus on preserving the intended design while carefully refining the geometry for manufacturing, FEA, and CAM. In particular, I can review the articulating surfaces, mating interfaces, clearances, feature transitions, and critical dimensions so the final model is clean, parametric, and suitable for downstream engineering work. I’m comfortable signing an NDA and working with confidential engineering data. I can provide relevant precision mechanical CAD examples and discuss the existing model with you before finalizing the scope and price.

This proposal outlines a comprehensive CAD design solution for a veterinary stifle (knee) implant intended for use in canine or feline orthopedic reconstruction, particularly for cases involving cranial cruciate ligament rupture, patellar luxation correction, or total knee arthroplasty. The scope includes anatomical analysis based on CT/MRI imaging data of the target species, parametric 3D modeling of femoral and tibial components, and design of associated fixation elements such as stems, pegs, or screw holes. The design will account for species-specific anatomical variation (breed size, joint geometry, and bone density differences), ensuring the implant profile matches natural biomechanical load paths while minimizing soft tissue impingement. Deliverables will include native CAD files (SolidWorks/Fusion 360 or client-preferred format), STEP/IGES exports for manufacturing compatibility, and STL files suitable for 3D-printed surgical models or prototypes. Design Methodology and Technical Approach The design process will follow a structured workflow beginning with reverse engineering of anatomical scan data, followed by surface reconstruction and reference geometry extraction to define articulating surfaces accurately. Finite element analysis (FEA) considerations will be integrated early in the design to validate implant strength under simulated gait loading, ensuring the component withstands cyclic stress without fatigue failure.
