We are looking for an experienced mechanical designer / industrial designer specialized in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) for plastic injection molding. The scope of this project is DFM optimization only. Mold design and manufacturing will be handled by our injection manufacturer. The goal is to develop a two-part plastic enclosure intended for plastic injection molding. A basic 3D model of the enclosure already exists and has been tested through 3D printing. This model includes the main geometry, openings, and overall dimensions. The next step is to adapt and redesign this enclosure so it is fully compatible with injection molding, taking into account all manufacturing constraints : - Review the existing 3D model - Redesign the enclosure for injection molding, including: draft angles, wall thickness optimization, ribs and reinforcements, parting lines considerations, etc. - Propose a hinge solution compatible with plastic injection molding (integrated hinge, snap-fit hinge, or other relevant solution) - Ensure the design remains structurally solid, visually clean and simplified, to avoid unnecessary mold complexity Estimated budget: $600–$1,000 (flexible depending on experience).
