Robotic Arm (3D Printed + Simple Coding) Project Overview I am a high school teacher looking for a proven, classroom-ready robotic arm project suitable for students (Years 8–11). In the past, we have used robotic arm designs found online, but many have failed to work reliably, resulting in wasted time and disappointment for students. I do not have time for experimentation or trial-and-error. I am looking for a fully documented robotic arm design that is already known to work, with clear evidence that it functions correctly. What I Am Looking For (Very Important) I am NOT looking for: Concept designs Untested prototypes “It should work” ideas Incomplete documentation I AM looking for: A robotic arm you have already built A robotic arm that you can prove works A robotic arm suitable for classroom use Mandatory Requirements (Read Carefully) To be considered, you must provide ALL of the following: 1. Proof That It Works A video of the robotic arm you personally built, fully assembled and operating The video must show: Power on Joint movement End effector (gripper or tool) operation Stock videos, YouTube links to other people’s projects, or simulations are not acceptable 2. Complete Project Documentation You must supply everything required to reproduce the project, including: STL files for all 3D printed parts Full parts list (BOM) with: Electronics Fasteners Motors / servos Microcontroller Wiring diagrams (clear and student-friendly) Fully working code (Arduino / Micro:bit / ESP32 preferred) Assembly instructions suitable for students 3. Classroom-Suitable Design The design must: Be robust and reliable (not fragile or temperamental) Use reasonably priced components Avoid complex calibration or tuning Be achievable with school-level tools and timeframes Support simple coding, not advanced robotics maths 4. Cost Transparency You must clearly state: Cost per robotic arm (AUD preferred) Breakdown of major components Any optional upgrades vs base build 5. Guarantee of Functionality You must be confident that: If the design is built exactly as specified, it will work No undocumented “tweaks” are required No hidden dependencies or missing steps exist Preferred (But Not Mandatory) Arduino-based control Servo-driven joints Gripper end effector USB power or simple DC supply Beginner-friendly code with comments Designed for 3D printers commonly found in schools (PLA, no exotic materials) What I Will Pay For I am happy to pay for: A proven, working design Time spent preparing clear documentation Minor modifications to make it more classroom-friendly I am not paying to experiment or discover problems during the school term. How to Apply Your proposal must include: A brief description of the robotic arm you personally built A link to a video showing it operating The microcontroller and motors used Approximate cost per unit Confirmation that all files and documentation will be provided Applications without proof of a working build will not be considered. End Goal I want a robotic arm project that: Works every time Can be confidently rolled out to a class Gives students a positive, successful experience Focuses on learning and coding, not troubleshooting failures If you have already built this and can prove it — I want to hear from you.
