I need a mechanical design engineer who can take on full-cycle, new-product development work for the generators, traction motors, and onboard transformers used in a metro-train environment. The brief covers everything from early concept sketches through to production-ready 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings, and supporting analysis. You will be reimagining these power-train components so they integrate cleanly under the railcar, meet stringent EN / IEC rail standards for vibration, fire safety, and thermal performance, and remain service-friendly for depot technicians. Expect to: • Develop solid- and surface-model geometry in SolidWorks or an equivalent parametric CAD tool • Validate strength, fatigue, and heat dissipation with FEA/CFD tools such as ANSYS or COMSOL • Optimise mass and envelope to fit within existing bogie clearances while maintaining required output ratings • Deliver full drawing packs (2D & 3D), exploded views, BOM, and a short design report that documents calculations, material choices, and compliance notes I’ll provide baseline electrical requirements, mounting constraints, and preferred materials once we start; you’ll turn that data into manufacturable hardware. Regular design reviews over video or screen-share are fine—iteration is expected, and final acceptance will be based on the completeness and accuracy of the CAD files, analysis summaries, and the readiness of the documentation package for release to suppliers. If you have prior rolling-stock or heavy-industrial machinery experience, that’s a clear advantage.
