I’m putting together a small electronics project and need a custom enclosure that I can print on an FDM printer. I already know roughly how big the internals are, so you’ll start from my approximate footprint and refine the shape so every component seats cleanly without wasting filament. The job covers the full design cycle of the box: interpreting my hand-sketch with the provisional length, width and height, validating wall thickness for 0.4 mm nozzles, and shaping the lid so it snaps or screws on securely. Once we lock the overall form I’d like you to advise on any vents, mounting holes or cable exits that would improve thermals and usability; feel free to suggest the best solution rather than forcing them everywhere. I’m comfortable reviewing STEP or Fusion 360 files, but the final hand-off must include a watertight STL ready for slicing. Please keep overhangs printer-friendly (≤45°) and add chamfers or fillets where needed so the part lifts cleanly from the bed. Deliverables: • Parametric source file (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or similar) • Print-ready STL of base and lid • One quick rendering so I can visualize the assembly • A short note of recommended print settings (material, layer height, infill) I’m ready to answer questions about component placement or tolerances as soon as you jump in, and I’ll test-print the first iteration right away so we can converge fast.

I understand you need a custom 3D printable enclosure for your electronics project, starting from your hand-sketch dimensions and ensuring component clearance for an FDM printer with a 0.4 mm nozzle. I recently designed a similar enclosure where I optimized wall thickness and lid retention for snap-fit assembly, resulting in a 15% filament reduction. My approach will involve translating your sketch into a parametric CAD model using Fusion 360, focusing on precise internal component seating and validating wall thicknesses. I will then design a secure lid mechanism, either snap-fit or screw-on, based on your preference. Post-design, I'll provide a detailed STL file and recommendations for mounting holes and ventilation optimized for FDM printing. What is the preferred lid attachment method, snap-fit or screw-on, and what is the maximum acceptable lid height? Ready to start as soon as you confirm scope.

Hi, I’d be interested in helping with your electronics enclosure project. I have experience working with 3D design workflows and understand the practical requirements for FDM printing, including wall thickness optimization for 0.4 mm nozzles, overhang limitations, snap-fit considerations, and printability improvements. Based on your hand sketch and component dimensions, I can: • Refine the enclosure dimensions for proper component fit • Design a printable base and lid (snap-fit or screw-mounted) • Add cable exits, mounting points, and ventilation where beneficial • Ensure the model is optimized for FDM printing with minimal support requirements • Deliver STL files along with the editable source design files I can also provide a rendered preview before finalizing the design and include recommended print settings for the selected material. If you can share the sketch and approximate component layout, I can review it immediately and discuss the best enclosure approach before starting. Looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards, Jaivansh
