I’m ready to convert the existing shop beside my pool into a fully self-contained, one-bedroom / one-bathroom accessory dwelling unit in a classic, Traditional style. The footprint will be an extension of the current structure, so I need thoughtful space planning that maximises what’s already there while meeting setback, height and utility-tie-in requirements. Inside, the ADU must include: • A compact but functional kitchenette • A comfortable living area • A small yet efficient office nook • Full bathroom and private bedroom All interior finishes will lean on quality tile for both floors and wet areas, so layouts should account for tile transitions and patterns that suit a Traditional aesthetic. What I’m looking for: • Concept sketches and 3-D visuals to confirm flow and curb appeal • Detailed construction drawings and structural notes ready for permit submission • Electrical, plumbing and HVAC plans that connect cleanly to the main house services • A finish schedule specifying tile types, trim details and fixture selections in keeping with the chosen style • Ongoing coordination with me (and, if needed, my general contractor) through final inspection Familiarity with local ADU regulations, energy codes and pool-side construction constraints is essential. If you’ve successfully navigated similar backyard builds, I’d love to see examples and hear how you’ll guide this project from first sketch to move-in day.
