I am building a detailed finite-element model of a reinforced-concrete beam–column joint in Abaqus 2017 and need help finalising the nonlinear setup for a reversed cyclic loading protocol. The goal is to generate reliable hysteresis curves that show the full pinching behaviour caused by bond-slip, while also reproducing concrete cracking, crushing and any strength degradation that follows. Scope of the model • All joint dimensions, the exact rebar detailing and realistic concrete material properties have to be represented so that strain localisation and confinement effects emerge naturally. • Bond–slip must be treated explicitly. If you already have a reinforced-concrete bond UMAT or can write one from scratch, it must compile and run in Abaqus 2017 without licensing or compatibility problems. • Material nonlinearity, contact-based slip, cyclic damage and stiffness recovery need to be captured in the same run so that the cyclic envelope and pinched loops agree with published test data. Deliverables - Fully documented .cae or input file, UMAT source code and any utility scripts. - Plot of hysteresis loops (force–displacement and energy dissipation) highlighting pinching. - Brief verification note comparing the model response with at least one experimental or published benchmark. Acceptance criteria A run on my workstation (Abaqus 2017 + Intel Fortran) must converge for the complete reversed cyclic protocol without manual intervention and reproduce the characteristic pinched loops within a 10 % tolerance of the chosen benchmark. When you respond, please attach one or two examples of previous cyclic RC joint or bond-slip simulations—screenshots of hysteresis curves are ideal—so I can see your experience straight away.
