Personal Development Planning Assignment 1 Applying for Work in the IT industry Task 1 – JOB MARKET RESEARCH Develop a short presentation (15 minutes) detailing your findings on the targeted research you conducted during the course into your chosen job role and its appropriate sector(s) to which you aspire after graduation. Evaluate the roles available in terms of sector(s), salaries and hiring trends over the last 2 years, geographical location (ie where these jobs are available) and the skills needed for that role and sector. You should add in here any advice, guidance and information obtained during in-module talks given by the Careers Service and Beacon Recruitment. Your presentation must be fully referenced according to Bradford College’s Harvard rules (guides available on Moodle). Supply one set of PowerPoint NOTES PAGES in hard copy at your presentation time/day, for your assessor. Task 2 – CV Produce a professionally presented CV, using the template provided, suitable for posting onto the LinkedIn professional social networking website for the job advertisement allocated in week 4, based on your job-role and job market research. You should take full advantage of the formative feedback opportunity available in Week 7 of the module to modify and refine your CV for final submission. Task 3 – SKILLS GAP ANALYSIS Using the template provided, develop a current skills gap analysis which compares your skills and attributes against those analysed from your allocated job advertisement (as in Task 2 above). Task 4 – INTERVIEW QUESTIONS Prepare 3 interview questions with your corresponding optimum answers likely to be asked of you as an interviewee, appropriate to your allocated job role and to your CV. Two of the questions/answers must be of a technical nature.
