We have an Access DB currently set up for remote access via an online hosting service called Hyperoffice. A single user has our Access program on their computer and downloads the data file from Hyperoffice. Work is done locally and then the saved file is uploaded to Hyperoffice. The system is finicky. For example, if a user closes Access without first saving the file, the DB has to be reset. I need a contractor to set it up so that it is bulletproof. I would prefer to have the Access program (not necessarily the operating system but our customized program) on the host as well as the datafile. Then when we make updates to the program, we do not have to pass around the new version. It is a small DB and only about 3-4 people use it. Also, if multiple users could access it at the same time, that would be a big plus. We are spending about $400 per year for hyperoffice. I suspect there is a less expensive way to host the DB online. We are a small outfit, all home-based with PCs. We do not a vpn but I understand that might be an option. If you recommend that please include cost.
Please include in your quote the following:
1. Cost to set-up the db on hyperoffice (or an alternative) so it is stable
2. Ability to make it useable by multiple users (and cost if any)
3. Alternative to hyperoffice.
