I am looking for a freelancer to assist me with specific questions about maintaining the books for my freelance software development business. I keep my books in Quickbooks Online and report taxes on my Schedule C; as an individual, I am on a cash basis. Although I have some experience keeping the books for a small business, I'd like to establish a relationship with a freelancer who I can go to with questions about how to manage my books as they arise. At the moment, my immediate question pertains to how to account for a customer pre-payment to be applied to future invoices. I'm looking for someone who has extensive familiarity with U.S. tax law. My business is in the U.S. state of Maine.
