Oil pipelines are commonly buried 3–5 feet beneath riverbeds to protect them from environmental exposure and mechanical damage. However, riverbed scour and sediment transport during floods or strong flow events may remove sediment and potentially expose the buried pipeline. Continuous monitoring of riverbed elevation is therefore essential to ensure pipeline safety and to understand sediment dynamics. This project proposes a Smart Rock monitoring system designed to measure riverbed scour and elevation changes. Each Smart Rock contains an embedded absolute pressure sensor that measures water pressure to estimate local water depth. By combining these measurements with the absolute water surface elevation, the absolute elevation of each Smart Rock can be determined. Since the pipeline elevation is known, the remaining sediment thickness above the pipe can be calculated. For a typical 400-foot-wide river crossing, approximately 3–4 Smart Rocks are deployed along the pipeline alignment. Each Smart Rock communicates wirelessly with a shore-based ground station using acoustic communication. The ground station aggregates data from all deployed nodes and transmits it to a cloud-based API server. Collected data are stored in a centralized database where they are processed and visualized through a web-based monitoring dashboard. The dashboard is built on a Google Maps–based interface, allowing multiple monitoring 8 sites (total 30 smart rocks) across the United States to be displayed simultaneously. Each site provides real-time visualization of Smart Rock elevation, sediment thickness above the pipeline, and environmental monitoring data, enabling remote monitoring and system control. i need design and build 30 smart rocks PBC and 8 stations PCB and 1 web dashboard
