Hi, here is the challenges when I build the scalable system based on kubernetes. - load balancing: At first, I keep the whole model server ip address to get the predictions with NodePort for service type. Difficult to manage the model server for scaling. So the service type was changed to LoadBalancer and only one endpoint could be used for lots of server. But since there are 5 loadbalancer on the cluster, there was an cost waste. Finally, the ingress controller was deployed for the load balancer. - Cluster autoscaling. If you deploy the Cluster AutoScaler, you need to care something. Extend the CA pod resource request since the default was cpu 0.1 and memory 0.1G Right settings for HPA(horizontal pod autoscaler) cpu percentage Resetting the scale-down-unneeded-time to reduce the wasted cost when the CA do scaling, default is 10m Subnet mask should be set to get enough ip address - Allocating the resource (cpu and memory) to each pod. There is an option "cpu request" and "cpu limited" for resource allocating for deployment. Getting the right value for each component required lots of testing for performance optimization. The trick thing is not set the "cpu limited" option. For this part, setting the instance type affected to the system. I can share my works if you are interested in that. Thank you.
