I need a developer who can replicate Meta’s system-level “floating overlay” on HorizonOS by creating an independent app that shows a WebView on top of any screen. This WebView will act as a HUD: it must load any URL I specify at runtime and display it without back, forward, or refresh controls. What makes the job tricky is that the original overlay relies on Meta’s private APIs. I already have the device rooted and running USERDEBUG, so full adb, shell, and file-system access are available. Your job is to: • Analyse the stock overlay APK (it is unencrypted and easy to decompile) to discover the required libraries, services, and signature checks. • Re-implement the floating interface using those same libraries so the new APK is accepted by the system. • Bypass or mimic whatever package or signature verification the private API expects, allowing the app to install and launch as a normal third-party package. • Expose a simple way for me to set or change the target URL (hard-coded in a config file, intent extra, or local settings page—whichever is simplest). Deliverables 1. Full source code with clear build instructions (Gradle/Android Studio). 2. A signed, installable APK that runs on my HorizonOS device and displays the WebView overlay exactly as the original HUD does. 3. A short technical write-up explaining the private API calls you used and how any verification hurdles were handled. Acceptance criteria • Overlay stays on top of all activities, resizable or fixed in the same position as the stock HUD. • Loads any link I provide and updates instantly. • No navigation chrome is visible. • Runs without system crashes, warning dialogs, or permission errors. If you enjoy low-level Android work, reverse engineering, and private API tinkering, this should be a fun challenge.
