Android mobile app: Agent-based decision support system (ADSS)

I require a top Android developer who can develop an app using agent formalisms for decision support. Specifically, clinical decision support applied to a novel device for monitoring the growing fetus.

The app will be used for "fetal monitoring" device, which is a phonogram used to listen for fetal movement and determine if there are potential complications. The mobile app will receive data from the phonogram (essentially a microphone), do some signal processing, and then use a novel agent-based diagnosis system called “ADSS” to do the decision support and present recommendations.

The app exists as a prototype, but needs significant re-work:

• Agent system needs to be re-written using a package called “Jadex for Android” – which is Java based

• Sound visualisation of audio recordings need refinement

• Signal processing algorithms of recorded sounds will need to be refined. Experienced researchers and students will provide pseudo-code and guidance in this areas

The project is a collaboration between Khalifa University UAE and University of Melbourne. Below is a newspaper report about the project:

“At Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi, a team led by Dr. Ahsan Khandoker, an assistant professor of biomedical engineering, is developing a low-cost fetal monitoring device aimed at mothers who have limited access to health clinics. Ultrasound is the “gold standard” device for this purpose. Our cheaper phonogram-based Fetal Monitoring device is less invasive, and promises to make them more available to health workers and even allows patients to own and operate them using their own mobile phones. The team has received a Grand Challenges Exploration Grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Work is underway to develop the first prototype this year.

Work is under way to leverage the recently developed ADSS platform (see above) for the software decision support and digital signal processing algorithms.
