Check Urls in a List for 404 errors

Script should - check group of urls in a text file to see if there is server error on them like 404 or 403, this checking should be done quickly, - the goal is to find a creative way to check for all the urls with lowest waiting time, perhaps with multi threading and other tools(suggest), this is important. So with bid specify how fast can processing of i.e. 100 urls be done. - if url from the list appears to have an error - script sends email to specified address Here is an example of site that is showing 404 error.
