hello, the risk sits in the deliverable you have asked for. a brief that opens by naming a service area, design or software or content, is choosing a tool before anyone has established the job. do it that way and you get a beautifully specified thing nobody needed, which is the most expensive kind of clarity. so i would write it in the opposite order. who has this problem, what do they do about it right now, and why is that unsatisfying enough that they would change. once those three are written down in plain sentences, the medium usually stops being a question. an idea whose answer is a piece of software and an idea whose answer is a newsletter feel identical at the concept stage and look nothing alike once you name the person. the other thing i would put in the roadmap ahead of any building is the cheapest test that could tell you the idea is wrong, plus what result would make you stop. founders rarely write the stopping condition down, and it is the part that saves the money. what do these people do today instead of your idea? is there a budget or deadline that should shape the roadmap? have a nice day.
