Journalist Interviews: Australia & Japan

This assignment centres on capturing first-hand interviews in both Australia and Japan that illuminate current social issues—anything from housing affordability in Sydney to community rebuilding in post-earthquake Tōhoku. The finished stories will be pitched directly to newspapers and repurposed for companion pieces on leading online news platforms, so colour, nuance and strong human voices are essential. I need someone who can: • identify compelling local sources, • conduct in-person or well-produced remote interviews (clean audio is a must), • distil the conversations into publish-ready narrative copy, and • supply high-resolution images or organise a photographer if needed. Deliverables 1. At least two feature-length interview articles (900–1 200 words each) per country. 2. Verbatim transcripts and time-stamped audio files (WAV or high-quality MP3). 3. Five captioned photographs per story or detailed photo brief. 4. Signed consent/release forms from all interviewees. Acceptance criteria • Articles meet AP style and include fact-checked background data. • Quotes are verified against the raw recording. • Material is cleared for print and digital republication.
