To set up a new website offering interactive 3D tours, I require the following:
1. Terrain/Landscape design using an approved 3D modeler
2. Object design (objects to be chosen/placed in terrain by users)
3. Hyperlinks embedded into 3D terrain
The concept here is for the user to be able to 'enter' the interactive website through the front gate, tour through, and place certain objects within it. Whether they can place objects or not depends on their status as a free or paid customer. I would like the terrain to be the equivalent of about 10 acres with detail of about 4 on a scale of 1 to 5. I have seen terrains modeled in Terragen that approximate the level of detail I would like to have, but the actual terrain would be more of a rolling-hill, flower-filled meadow type of landscape, rather than the typical mountainous terrain that is typical of Terragen. I would like it to use VRML or X3D but if you have suggestions I am open to discussion. The objective is to have it as accessible as possible without the user having to install any additional software. The model is to be delivered over the Internet to a variety of users with differing connection speeds.
