ENGINEERING WORK ORDER: REST ACOUSTICS PROJECT Objective: PCB Layout (Gerber/BOM/CPL) and 3D Enclosure Design (STEP/STL) for a standalone I2S/SPDIF audio DSP hardware module. Important Note on Firmware: The client's team will handle all firmware development, software configuration, and flashing. The hardware engineer is ONLY responsible for the physical PCB design, component routing, and 3D enclosure modeling. 1. TOPOLOGICAL MAP & DIMENSIONS (PCB LAYOUT) PCB Dimensions: 70 mm x 70 mm (leaving a 5 mm internal tolerance for the enclosure). PCB Specs: 1.6 mm thickness, standard FR-4, 2 layers (Top/Bottom). Rear Edge (I/O Panel): Center: USB-C Connector (Used for 5V power input AND data lines D+/D- routed directly to the MCU's native USB pins for firmware flashing). Left: TOSLINK RX Connector (Optical Receiver). Right: TOSLINK TX Connector (Optical Transmitter). Top / Front Panel: Top-Left Corner: Power Button (Latching push-button or slide switch to completely cut off system power). Exact Center: Tactile SMD Button (Momentary switch) for mode switching and IR learning activation. 10 mm above center button: 1x SMD Blue LED. Next to the LED: 1x IR Receiver module (e.g., TSOP38238 or VS1838B) facing upwards/frontwards to receive TV remote control signals. 2. WIRING DIAGRAM & MICROCOMPONENTS (PINOUT) DSP Brain: ESP32-S3-WROOM-1 module (Must be a version with >= 8MB integrated Flash). Chosen for its native USB support, floating-point processing capabilities, and low cost. Audio Transceiver: Cirrus Logic WM8804 (or TI DIX4192) for SPDIF-to-I2S conversion. Audio Routing (I2S Bus): TOSLINK RX port connects to the RXIN pin on the WM8804. WM8804 communicates with the ESP32-S3 via I2S. Map standard pins: BCLK, LRCLK, DIN, DOUT. TXOUT pin on the WM8804 connects to the TOSLINK TX port. Control Routing (ESP32-S3 GPIOs): Multifunction Button: Connect to GPIO 14 with a 10k Pull-Up resistor to 3.3V (active LOW). Blue LED: Connect to GPIO 15 with a 330-ohm current-limiting resistor. IR Receiver: Connect the data out pin to GPIO 16 (used to capture IR remote signals). Power System: USB-C 5V VBUS routes through an LDO voltage regulator (e.g., AMS1117-3.3) to step down from 5V to 3.3V for the system. The main latching physical switch must be placed on the main power trace before the LDO to allow complete shutdown. 3. 3D STRUCTURAL & INDUSTRIAL DESIGN (ENCLOSURE) External Dimensions: 80 mm (Width) x 80 mm (Depth) x 25 mm (Height). Material Specs: ABS Plastic (2 mm wall thickness). Color & Texture: Absolute Matte Black. Mold injection texture code equivalent to Mold-Tech MT-11010. Hi, I am an embedded systems engineer with over 16 years of experience designing production-ready PCBs, mixed-signal electronics, audio interfaces, and compact consumer enclosures. I can develop the 70 × 70 mm ESP32-S3/WM8804 hardware and the 80 × 80 × 25 mm enclosure while keeping the work strictly hardware-focused; firmware and flashing will remain with your team. I will translate the supplied topology into a complete, manufacturable design, with careful power distribution, USB routing, I2S/SPDIF signal integrity, component placement, connector alignment, and assembly constraints. The enclosure will be modeled around the actual selected components to achieve accurate rear cutouts, button and IR access, LED diffusion, snap-fits, hidden screws, and the specified finish. Final delivery will include fabrication-checked Gerbers, BOM with LCSC numbers, CPL, and STEP/STL files for both enclosure parts. Before starting, I would like to confirm whether you already have a schematic and preferred TOSLINK/button part numbers, or whether component selection and schematic capture are also expected. The budget is tight for both PCB and mechanical design, so my bid is at the upper limit, but I am flexible regarding milestones. Please contact me to discuss details.

Hi there, I carefully reviewed the ReSt Acoustics hardware requirements, including the 70 × 70 mm two-layer PCB, ESP32-S3-WROOM-1, WM8804/DIX4192 SPDIF interface, I2S routing, native USB-C connection, TOSLINK RX/TX, IR receiver, controls, and the custom 80 × 80 × 25 mm enclosure. I am a mechatronics engineer with almost half a decade of experience in PCB design, embedded electronics, hardware prototyping, and digital interfaces including USB, I2S, SPI, and related audio/multimedia interfaces. I also have experience designing and prototyping electronic boards using Altium Designer, with attention to component placement, routing, power integrity, manufacturability, and mechanical integration. The combination of PCB and mechanical enclosure requirements fits well with my engineering background, allowing the board layout, connector alignment, enclosure cutouts, mounting features, and 3D clearances to be developed together efficiently. I understand that firmware is completely outside this scope and that the required outputs are manufacturing-ready Gerbers, BOM/CPL, and STEP/STL enclosure files. Please send me a message so we can discuss the project and start. Best regards, Samuel tshibangu

As an experienced electronics and RF design engineer, I have the skills and background necessary to rise up to the demands of this project. I have a deep knowledge of PCB layout, which includes high-speed signal and impedance matching, and length control- all of which are particularly important for your project's audio routing. My experience also extends to designing with tight tolerances, ensuring millimeter-precise flush cutouts and snug enclosures, aligning perfectly with your requirements. Furthermore, my previous projects have required meticulous power supply design, a crucial aspect in preventing system failures but still keeping the costs low. This aligns perfectly with your need for a LDO voltage regulator to step down from 5V to 3.3V while maintaining complete shutdown ability. Your satisfaction is threatened if there is even a tiny design oversight- this makes the deep attention to detail that I guarantee very valuable for the project. My extensive use of popular tools such as Altium and KiCAD means that I am able to provide flexible deliverables ready for JLCPCB or PCBWay manufacturing from gerber files in .ZIP with precise BOM and CPL files. Let's bring your 3D acoustic vision into life!

Hi, I have experience designing ESP32-based mixed-signal hardware with native USB, I2S audio, digital interfaces, low-noise power rails, and compact 2–4 layer production PCBs. I have completed boards with 10+ mixed-signal interfaces, controlled return paths, custom footprints, STEP integration, and full Gerber/BOM/CPL manufacturing packages. Approach ✅ I will design the 70 × 70 mm PCB around the ESP32-S3, WM8804/DIX4192, TOSLINK RX/TX, native USB-C, I2S routing, IR receiver, buttons, and indicators. ✅ I will optimize grounding, clock/I2S return paths, decoupling, SPDIF isolation, USB D+/D− routing, and replace the AMS1117 if thermal/noise analysis favors a better 3.3 V regulator. ✅ I will complete ERC/DRC/DFM and create the 80 × 80 × 25 mm ABS enclosure with precise I/O cutouts, snap-fits, M2 security points, IR window, diffuser, logo, STEP/STL, Gerbers, BOM, and CPL. Questions ✅ Which exact ESP32-S3-WROOM-1 flash/PSRAM variant and TOSLINK transmitter/receiver part numbers should be used? ✅ Is the enclosure intended for prototype 3D printing first or directly for injection molding with MT-11010-equivalent texture? Best, Yaroslav

The USB-C power and data routing to the MCU's native pins is the key risk, I handle this by carefully planning the signal integrity paths on a 2-layer FR-4 board. I will lay out the 70mm x 70mm PCB for your audio DSP hardware module, routing I2S/SPDIF signals and the USB-C connector directly to the MCU. I will also design the 3D enclosure in STEP and STL formats. What is the desired mounting height for the TOSLINK RX connector on the rear edge? I need the schematic to begin. My rating is 5.0 across 10 reviews on here, and I have Preferred Freelancer status.
