I need a program to take 2d cross sections of a 3d object, and save the output as picture files. I am a university student constructing my own 3d printer. I have tried, but I lack expertise in manipulating 3d object files, and was unable to complete this project. The program should: Be able to accept 3d input from a popular 3d file format. The format chosen is up to the coder. Be able to slice this object into a predetermined number of slices, spaced at regular intervals, along the same plane. Save each slice as a picture file of any format. The picture file must display black for regions where the object was present and white for regions where the 3d object did not exist; a black and white mask of the object's cross section.
Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. Complete copyrights to all work purchased.
Windows 95/98, ME, XP optional but prefered.
## Deadline information
I am in no real hurry, but need completion by November 1, 2002.
