I need an engineer to verify lateral load and verify the amount to get correct depth for footings on a wooden carport. The primary goal is to prevent lateral movement. Key Requirements: - Designed to prevent lateral movement - Work on bedrock/basalt soil - Familiarity with bedrock/basalt conditions Permit is accepted and will allow alterations if we can receive an engineered stamp for the knee braces being able to support only 36” in ground. If not they are requiring 54” in ground, carport is 14x26 and is a standard wood carport with a shingle roof. We are on day 3 of trying to dig into the basalt driveway with a excavator with mini breaker and still not to depth Materials are 8x8 post’s, knee braces can be made bigger then a 6x6 if needed….
