One thing worth checking early in a Databricks and Azure AI Search setup: the index doesn't forget. Delete a row in Databricks, or re-chunk a document so its chunk IDs change, and the old entries stay searchable, because a push with mergeOrUpload only adds and updates. Indexers do the same unless a deletion detection policy is set. So answers keep citing something that was withdrawn weeks ago, and nothing in the logs says why. The fix is sending explicit deletes, which Delta's change data feed can list, or a soft-delete flag the indexer watches. How I'd run it: first we trace one question end to end, from the source table through the Databricks job, index schema, query and prompt to the API response, and draw that as an architecture map you keep. Then you drive and I guide. We debug the real issues in your code and make the changes together, and each session ends with a short note in your repo. Azure AI Search gets learned on your own index: which field settings need a rebuild to change, vector and hybrid queries, and what the scores mean.
