flash lite

About the project: We are working on a social community website, named Glig (you may find an early concept of the web design attached to this email). Part of the website will consist of multiplayer games, programmed in ActionScript 3.0. As Glig we promote social gaming: users will play in teams, rather than alone, to achieve certain goals. This way we wish to encourage a nonviolent way of playing games and interacting with others, where children (12+) as well as adults can have a good time and make friends. About all games: - A framework (that we make ourselves) will accompany every game. It consists of four main elements: a window where your score is tracked, a list of all players, a chat window and a lobby with all open games. Therefore, when making a design for the website, you do not have to worry about those four elements. - We expect the games to be 800 px wide and scalable. - The games need to have a very clean, balanced feeling to them. Since we have lots of white space in our website design, the games need to have light colors. As an example, we are quite fond of [url removed, login to view] (the flash application itself). About the game: The first game we'd like to have designed, is a multiplayer tetris game. Up to six people can play the game at the same time: you see your own field enlarged and the fields of other players, smaller (but still clearly visible). Similiar to the original tetris game, whenever a player clears 4 lines at a time, others get 3 lines added to their field. There are also special blocks in your field: if you clear those, you can either use them on your own field or on someone else's field. The special blocks are: 1) add line (adds a line to a field) 2) clear line (clears a line from a field) 3) quake (makes blocks shift randomly, horizontally) 4) switch (switches a field with someone else) 5) clear specials (removes special blocks from field) 6) gravity (removes empty spots: blocks fall down) You can use special blocks on someone else by pressing the number of their field. For the game graphics, we are inspired by puzzle game Lumines for the PSP: a background that smoothly changes color every 30 seconds: sometimes showing silhouettes of various items: dancing people, jumping bunnies, etc. There should also be an option to turn those animations off (and just have a plain white background.)
