Programmer information XM-2300 is proposed as computer program providing a user with the capacity to record financial data. It is intended to be used by Australian business entities. Chart of accounts The accounting design is based on a Chart of accounts. The Chart of accounts is proposed to have three entry modes, namely set up, input and output (Option 1). The selection of an item can have different entry results, depending on the mode of the Chart of accounts at the time of selection. The Chart of accounts is proposed to nevertheless remain the same (whatever the entry mode). It is proposed to have standard categories, headings and sub-headings (which are augmented by the user entry of items when the Chart of accounts is in set up mode). The items that the user enters are proposed to become collecting points for the storage of information (along with some standard items on the Chart of accounts). Information is proposed to be stored in those collecting points, regardless of the mode of the Chart of accounts at the time when that information is entered. Reports are proposed to be displayed from the output (Option 2) Chart of accounts (and sometimes from the output Option 1 mode). Navigation The user is proposed to navigate on the Chart of accounts by selecting any of the categories listed at the commencement of the Chart, which takes the user to that category on the Chart. Alternatively, the user is proposed to navigate by using the functions on the computer keyboard. Program application The program is designed for use in any environment where the numerals 0-9 are used. Its accounting design is based on the double entry system, which is permanent and universal. When proposed for use in a different environment it will be changed to reflect indirect taxation measures and to address translation issues. Changes in the indirect taxation system (in any environment) will necessitate changes to the program (which can be produced as an upgrade to an existing installation or as a new program system). Different modules can be added to the basic recording system (such as inventory, costing and payroll modules). Increasing complexity is nothing more than an extension of the double entry accounting system. Freelance programmer/coder It is not necessary for the programmer/coder to be aware or have knowledge of or in relation to the Australian taxation system. It would be an advantage (but is not a fundamental requirement) that the programmer/coder has: • mathematical skills • previous experience in the preparation of tax/accounting software It is fundamental that the programmer/coder: • has previous experience in general software production • knows how to build user interfaces • has a strong skillset in the design and graphics associated with Software program construction Important!
