Need to hire someone to assist with maintaining code for several 8051-based building automation devices.
A dedicated laptop exists in our lab with the fully licensed Keil C51 compiler. You will be given remote access via remote control software.
The end products are building automation-related and deal with networking over RS485.
Almost all code is C. A little bit in Assembler.
You'll have access to the sr. firmware engineer via Skype chat every day should you have questions...but we hope you will quickly learn how to navigate the source files.
You should be comfortable with the idea of working without hardware for especially simple changes. We understand that not every build will run and we'll be required to do the testing and report back in a timely manner. We also understand that sometimes you will need hardware. We'll work that out as required.
You should be comfortable with debugging without an emulator.
Our lab debugging tools include a 100mhz scope and a 100mhz 8-channel Saleae Logic Analyzer.
We'll work small issues hourly. For larger changes, we'll work out some kind of deliverable list and estimate the effort.
