Realistic Children’s Book Illustrations

I’m putting together a children’s book for readers aged 8–12 and need every page illustrated in a realistic style. The main characters are based on my grandchild and me, so likeness is essential—facial features, skin tone, and key expressions should feel recognisable without drifting into caricature. The story moves between cosy indoor moments and vibrant outdoor adventures, so you’ll be painting a mix of home interiors, gardens, city corners, and a few imaginative settings. Consistency in palette, lighting, and character proportions from scene to scene is crucial to keep young readers immersed. Expect to provide full-colour, print-ready spreads (CMYK, 300 dpi) and layered source files (PSD or Procreate) so my layout designer can adjust text later if needed. A short round of revisions on each spread will help us lock down likeness and atmosphere before final export.
