I have an extruder screw to be machined from steel and I need a full CNC program created for it. I will supply the exact length, root and outer diameters, and flight pitch so you can model the geometry precisely. The finished part must meet ±0.1 mm across every critical surface, including the core, flights, and drive end. Once I share the dimensions, I’d like you to generate the complete milling strategy, simulate it, and supply ready-to-run code (acceptable formats: Fanuc-style G-code or a neutral post I can adapt). A short setup sheet noting tools, speeds/feeds, and any required 4-axis indexing will help my shop hit the tolerance without guesswork. Acceptance will be based on: • Verification in simulation that the toolpaths clear all collisions and produce the specified geometry. • A STEP or native CAD of the final model for QC comparison. • Measured points in the verification report demonstrating the ±0.1 mm accuracy window. If you normally work in Fusion 360, Mastercam, SolidCAM, or NX, that’s perfect—just send the source file along with the post.

Hello, I have extensive experience creating CNC programs and manufacturing models for helical components, including extrusion screws, augers, feed screws, and multi-start flight geometries machined on 4-axis and mill-turn systems. I’ve delivered Fusion 360, Mastercam, and SolidCAM projects with collision-checked simulations, indexed machining strategies, tolerance validation, STEP deliverables, and post outputs for Fanuc controllers. For this project, I can model the screw from your supplied dimensions, generate the machining sequence, validate toolpaths in simulation, prepare the setup sheet with tooling and cutting data, and provide the source CAM files together with the post output. Verification can include measured checkpoints on root diameter, OD, pitch accuracy, flight profile, and drive-end geometry against the ±0.1 mm requirement. Could you confirm the screw length, number of starts, compression zones, and whether the flights are constant or variable pitch? Also, will this run on a true 4-axis mill, mill-turn machine, or indexed rotary setup? Best regards

Hey, I can generate a full CNC manufacturing package for your extruder screw including the 3D model, machining strategy, and post-processed G-code tailored to your machine setup. Once you provide the dimensions, I will build the exact geometry in CAD, define the toolpaths for roughing and finishing with proper 4 axis considerations if needed, and ensure the strategy is optimized for steel machining while maintaining your ±0.1 mm tolerance requirement. You will also receive a setup sheet covering tool selection, speeds and feeds, and a clear machining sequence, along with a STEP file for verification against your QC process. One thing I’m curious about is whether your machine setup is strictly 3 axis with indexing, or do you have full simultaneous 4 axis capability available? Atik

Your biggest risk here probably isn’t the coding—it’s anticipating subtle tool deflections and fixture shifts that quietly push critical dimensions out of tolerance. Achieving ±0.1 mm on flights and core demands a milling strategy designed for repeatable precision, not just collision-free paths. I’d start by modeling the screw geometry from your specs, then simulate the full 4-axis cycle to optimize tool engagement and minimize thermal and mechanical drift. The program will be tailored for your preferred post-processor, complete with a concise setup sheet covering tools, speeds, and indexing to streamline your shop’s workflow. If you’re ready, let’s discuss the key dimensions and constraints to align on accuracy expectations.

Hello, I have experience creating CNC machining programs for precision steel components, including CAD modeling, milling strategy, simulation, toolpath verification, and setup documentation. I am interested in this project because the extruder screw requires accurate geometry, controlled machining steps, and clear G-code delivery to hold the ±0.1 mm tolerance. I will model the screw from your supplied dimensions, create the machining strategy in CAM, simulate and verify the toolpaths for collision clearance, prepare Fanuc-style G-code or a neutral post, and deliver the STEP/CAD file, setup sheet, speeds and feeds, tooling notes, and verification report. Thanks for reading my proposal. Edwin

Hello, I'm excited to take on the challenge of creating a CNC toolpath for your extruder screw, which requires precise machining from steel to meet the tight tolerance of ±0.1 mm across every critical surface. With my experience in CAD/CAM and CNC programming, I'm well-versed in using software like Fusion 360 and Mastercam to generate complex milling strategies. To deliver the ready-to-run code, I'll start by modeling the geometry precisely using the supplied dimensions, then simulate the toolpaths to ensure collision-free execution and accurate results. Can you share more about the specific dimensions and requirements for the extruder screw so I can get started on the project? https://www.freelancer.com/u/salahuddin1973 Best regards, Naufal Salahuddin

Hello, I've reviewed your project and understand you're looking for a complete CNC programming package for a steel extruder screw, including precise geometry modeling, collision checked simulation, and production ready G code with supporting setup documentation. Holding ±0.1 mm across the flights, core, and drive end means the machining strategy and indexing setup need to be planned very carefully before posting code. I can develop the full workflow in Fusion 360 with verified toolpaths, simulation validation, setup sheets, and export both the STEP model and editable source files for QC and future revisions. You can review my work here: https://www.freelancer.com/u/GridsmithLTD What machine configuration will the program run on, specifically the controller type and whether the shop is using a true 4 axis setup or indexed positioning only? Regards, Atik

Hello! This project matches my background very well. I’ve worked on precision CAD/CAM and CNC preparation projects where accurate geometry, machining strategy, and manufacturing reliability were critical from the beginning. One issue I’ve encountered before with complex machined parts was receiving incomplete machining assumptions between design and production stages, which later caused tool interference or dimensional deviation during simulation. Because of that, I now carefully verify toolpaths, clearances, indexing positions, and tolerance-critical areas before finalizing any CNC program. Once you provide the screw dimensions, I can create the 3D model, develop the machining strategy, simulate the process, and provide ready-to-run Fanuc-style G-code or a neutral post format. I can also include setup sheets with tooling, feeds/speeds, and 4-axis indexing details, along with STEP/source files and verification outputs for QC comparison. I’d be happy to discuss the project further and review your specifications.

I’ll deliver a complete CNC toolpath for your steel feed screw with ±0.1 mm accuracy across the core, flights, and drive end by building the exact geometry from your provided length, root OD/outer OD, and flight pitch. This isn’t generic “helical” code—I’ll model the screw precisely, define datums, and generate a milling strategy that maintains controlled engagement on each critical surface. Once you share the dimensions, I’ll create the CAD, develop the full milling/clearance paths, run simulation to confirm collision-free motion and full material removal to spec, and then provide ready-to-run NC code (Fanuc-style G-code or a neutral post you can adapt). I’ll also include a short setup sheet: tool list, suggested speeds/feeds, workholding guidance, and any 4-axis indexing requirements needed to hit tolerance without guesswork. Acceptance is based on simulation verification, a STEP (or native) CAD for QC comparison, and a measurement report with sampled points proving the ±0.
