Hello, I am looking for a licensed New Jersey Professional Engineer to evaluate an inground vinyl pool wall collapse in South Jersey. The contractor drained all of the water out of my inground vinyl pool during work in 2025. The pool wall later collapsed, leaving the pool unusable and causing major damage. My homeowner’s insurance claim was denied, and the denial referenced poor workmanship. I am trying to determine whether fully draining the pool, improper workmanship, soil pressure, hydrostatic pressure, or failure to properly protect the pool structure contributed to the collapse. Because I am working with limited funds, I would like to start with the most cost-effective option first, such as an initial consultation, site inspection, or limited written opinion letter. If needed, I would like the option to upgrade to a sealed forensic engineering report later. Can you please let me know: 1. Are you licensed as a Professional Engineer in New Jersey? 2. Do you evaluate inground vinyl pool wall collapses or similar structural failures? 3. Can you provide a cause-and-origin opinion? 4. What is your most affordable first step? 5. Can an initial inspection or short written opinion be upgraded to a sealed report later? 6. What would the estimated cost be for each phase? I have photos, repair estimates, contractor information, court/judgment information, insurance denial details, and other documentation available for review. Thank you

Hi, This is Maksim. I carefully reviewed your project description and understand that you are seeking a New Jersey Professional Engineer to evaluate the collapse of an inground vinyl pool wall in South Jersey, determine the likely contributing causes, and potentially provide a phased forensic engineering opinion that could later be expanded into a sealed report if necessary. I understand the importance of approaching this in a cost-conscious manner, and a practical first step would typically involve reviewing your photos, contractor records, repair estimates, insurance documentation, and timeline of events before determining whether a limited site inspection or preliminary written opinion is appropriate. My experience includes evaluating failure mechanisms involving temporary loss of lateral water pressure, soil loading imbalance, groundwater conditions, inadequate bracing or sequencing during work, and workmanship-related structural distress in residential structures and retaining systems. I would be happy to review the information you already have available and discuss the scope of an initial evaluation, possible next steps, and what level of documentation would provide the most value before committing to a full forensic report process. Best Regards

Hello, As a licensed Professional Engineer in New Jersey and with over 7 years of experience, I am confident in my ability to effectively investigate the cause of your inground vinyl pool wall collapse. While my specific focus has been on structural design for various building types, I have encountered and resolved numerous structural failures during my career - making your pool repair right up my alley. Besides having a deep understanding of various types of construction and design software such as AutoCAD and REVIT, I have a keen eye for research and analysis. This, coupled with my project management skills, enables me to conduct thorough site inspections or other required tests to evaluate the factors contributing to the collapse. I understand that you have some budgetary concerns, which is why I am more than willing to propose an initial consultation or limited written opinion letter as a cost-effective first step. If further investigation is needed, rest assured that these initial steps can be easily upgraded into a sealed forensic engineering report at any time. Let's collaborate on rectifying this issue thoroughly and affordably so that you can reclaim enjoyment from your pool once again. Thanks!

NJ PE Support for Pool Wall Collapse Evaluation Hello, I can assist with the evaluation of your inground vinyl pool wall collapse in a careful and professional way. My approach would start with a review of the available evidence, including photos, contractor information, repair records, insurance denial details, and any court-related documents. After that, I would assess the likely failure factors such as full pool drainage, workmanship issues, soil pressure, hydrostatic pressure, and whether the pool structure was properly protected during the work. The goal is to provide a clear cause-and-origin opinion based on the site condition and supporting documentation. If needed, the work can begin with a limited review or inspection and then be expanded into a more formal sealed forensic engineering report later. This helps keep the process practical while still preserving the option for a stronger technical report if required for insurance or legal use. I understand that this matter needs both technical accuracy and clear written findings. The final review would focus on identifying the most likely cause of collapse and documenting it in a way that is useful for your next steps.

Hi, I went through your details and this is a structural failure and forensic causation assessment, where sequencing of analysis matters more than anything else. I can review the collapse scenario methodically, starting from a preliminary technical assessment of contributing factors such as hydrostatic imbalance, soil loading, and construction handling, then move toward a structured opinion pathway that can support escalation into a formal report if required. The approach would be evidence-driven, using your photos, contractor records, and insurance documentation to isolate likely failure mechanisms before committing to a sealed forensic deliverable. Quick question: has any structural assessment or engineering opinion already been produced by the contractor or insurance adjuster that I should cross-check first? Best Regards, Muskan

Hello, I've reviewed your project and understand you're looking for a licensed New Jersey Professional Engineer to assess the cause of an inground vinyl pool wall collapse and determine whether workmanship, drainage, or soil and hydrostatic conditions contributed to the failure. I can review your documentation, inspect the available evidence, and provide a structured cause and origin assessment that focuses on likely structural failure mechanisms such as hydrostatic imbalance, improper dewatering, and soil load conditions. The initial phase can be kept cost conscious through a preliminary technical review and site based evaluation, followed by a more formal engineered opinion if further documentation or sealing is required for insurance or legal use. Before proceeding, has any geotechnical report or soil condition assessment ever been done on the property, especially relating to groundwater levels or backfill conditions around the pool? Hi, this type of failure analysis is typically treated as a soil–structure interaction and hydrostatic pressure case, so the key is separating construction actions from lateral earth pressure and groundwater effects before forming any conclusion. I can review your documentation, assess likely failure mechanisms such as rapid dewatering, inadequate wall bracing, or backfill pressure imbalance, and provide a structured cause and origin opinion that can be expanded into a formal report if needed. You can start with a low scope review and site documentation analysis, then move into a more detailed engineering opinion letter or sealed report if the findings require escalation. One thing I’m curious about is whether there was any temporary wall bracing or partial backfill support left in place when the pool was drained? Atik

Hello, I understand you need a New Jersey Professional Engineer to assess the in-ground vinyl pool wall collapse and determine the cause. I'm Taiwo, a UK-based Senior Software Developer with 10 years of experience. While my primary expertise is in software development, my Master's in Cyber Security and experience working on projects for the UK Government have given me a strong understanding of structural integrity and risk assessment. I also have eyes for UI/UX, which will make the project more detailed. I can analyse the provided documentation (photos, estimates, etc.) and offer an initial assessment of potential causes (draining, workmanship, pressure). I can then collaborate with licensed engineers to create a plan to solve the issue. Relevant projects: - GitSecure – built a security tool that finds, prioritizes, and fixes vulnerabilities in real-time. - ATS Express – Built a Chrome extension that allows recruiters to track potential employees ATS (Applicant Tracking System) applications and get notifications when new jobs are posted. - Built backend functionality for a US real estate crowdfunding platform with a focus on secure, scalable application logic My approach would involve a document review, followed by a collaboration with qualified structural engineers for the next phase. Hello I understand the complexity of your case involving the collapsed inground vinyl pool wall following full drainage and possible structural overload conditions. I can help you perform a professional cause-and-origin engineering assessment, focusing on whether failure was due to hydrostatic imbalance, soil lateral pressure, or workmanship-related structural compromise. We can begin with a low-cost document-based technical review, where I evaluate your photos, contractor records, insurance denial letter, and repair estimates. After that, I can provide a preliminary engineering opinion letter, which can be escalated into a sealed PE forensic report if the findings need to be used for legal or insurance escalation. I will structure the work in phases so you can control costs while still progressing toward a formal conclusion if needed. Before we begin, has any previous structural inspection or pool engineering report already been issued on this property? Portfolio: https://www.freelancer.pk/u/salahuddin1973 Naufal

Hello, I have experience reviewing structural failures, insurance-related damage claims, and construction workmanship issues involving pools, retaining walls, foundations, and soil pressure conditions. I am interested in this project because the collapse needs a clear technical review to identify whether draining, workmanship, hydrostatic pressure, soil pressure, or lack of temporary protection contributed to the failure. I can start with a cost-effective document and photo review, then perform a site inspection if needed, provide an initial written opinion, and upgrade the work to a sealed forensic engineering report if the findings support that next step. Thanks for reading my proposal. Edwin
