For several years we've been an established resource in data services and IT infrastructure space. Our goal is to provide practical, actionable and realistic advice to our readers. You won't find fluff content on our site, just realistic and practical advice from our team of experts.
We're looking to hire a writer who can contribute to our site. The position will start with 1-2 content pieces per week, with much room to grow beyond this if you can deliver consistent quality work. Each post will be between 2,000 and 2,5000 words per post.
Please note that we have very high editorial standards and every post goes through our Editor who will fact check all technical claims for accuracy. Our readers trust us and we absolutely must ensure the highest quality content.
Our budget is around $270 per week for 4 x 2,000-2,500 word posts. So please bid based on delivering 4 x 2,000-2,500 word articles.
You’ll be assigned topics by our editor and given submission deadline. It’s quite likely that in the first couple of weeks there will be a lot of feedback and editing required, but generally, once a writer gets into the swing of things, that part should be minimal.
By all means, check out our latest blog posts to get a feel for the sort of quality we are looking for. Note that we only require our writers to write the content, no web formatting or design is required.
There will be few types of content
1. Content that is not as technical
example: article around "remote admin"
I will provide content brief/template, show you process that should be used.
2. Technical content
example: 99 worst server practices
I will show you how to do most of the research
3. Case studies
example: take one of our reports we sent to the client and convert that into a content piece that can be used online
I will provide a topic - say we will pick a past project we did. You will interview me (on phone/skype/google hangouts) and voice record it. Ask me a bunch of questions. The key here is - content is in my head. Transcribe (or we will use a service that does this). I will help with content brief/template. This way you will get 90% of the content out of our conversation. Edit. Proofread. Done.
5. OPTIONAL: Re-use same content in multiple mediums.
Here is good explanation here: [url removed, login to view]
If you can do that - that is a major plus. Make sure you mention this on the form.
The end goal is to produce all of these content pieces consistently.
Please provide at least 3 sample of similar content you have written and/or published in your application. Also, take 5 min to customize your application since copy/pasted applications rarely stand out ;) Your first sentence should say - I wear red socks - so I know you read this.
P.S. We get busy sometimes, so if you don't hear from me for a couple of days, this is why.
