People count

I've been doing moving (people) counters for several years, here is one such library I have created for counting people: [login to view URL] All this depends on how accurately you need to count, the camera angle, (overhead like your linked video [login to view URL] is very good). There are a number of tracking techniques (and I have more tracking techniques I can use for the object-based counting methods). These techniques find moving objects and track them across the counting line (or counting polygon). Less CPU intensive are the optical flow counting methods, which estimate people counts by flow across the counting line. Can you provide video from your actual camera placements? Then I can send back the test results of my libobjectcounter for you to see. I'm all set up to test now... It may be that I already have what you need. If so, then it may take me very little time to provide a counter for you. (Under a week - IF we are lucky and my existing opencvc++ counting library counts accurately and fast enough for your needs...)

Can you tell me do you want to count people passing certain corridor or people that are in some room?

I have already developed a similar tracking application in Matlab during my Master's course and I strongly believe that I could be able to quickly rewrite it with OpenCV. I have over 7 years experience with C++ and 2 years of intense use of the OpenCV library. (I'm currently writing a patch for the latter library as part of a publication.)
