Creating programs to run as mesh network on 3 identical arduino based boards

Hi there.

Our company is working on a new set of time lapse equipment. The equipment uses 3 Identical pcbs to run control the mechanics. There is one pcb that acts as a central controller which delegates work to the to other boards via Bluetooth. There is another pcb which acts as the controller for a pan/tilt head. There is also a pcb which acts as a controller for a slider.

The central controller is to be connected to;

- a 20x4 standard LCD screen (I.e. Standard libraries can be used)

- two standard thumb sticks. The kind you find on a ps2 controller.

- a couple potentiometers and a couple of switches.

- an SD card reader,

- a real time clock.

The pan/tilt head pcb is to be connected to;

- a stepper motor driver which in turn will be connected to two stepper motors.

- a [url removed, login to view] headphone port which is used to fire the camera.

The slider pcb is to be connected to;

- a stepper motor driver which in turn will be connect to one stepper motor.

- a potentiometer.

- a 3 way switch.

- a [url removed, login to view] headphone port which is used to fire the camera.

- two limit switches.

All three boards will be computationally powered by the same processor that goes into the arduino mega 2560.

The features required of the program(s) are as follows;

- Basic Time lapse/intervalometer MODE - basic Time lapse mode using variables of 'recording time', 'video play back time', 'move distance of slider', 'move direction slider', 'move distance pan', 'move direction pan', 'move distance tilt', 'move direction tilt'.

- Manual control MODE- manual control of motors via the central controller using the two thumb sticks. Left thumbstick for slider movement (direction and velocity), right thumbstick for pan and tilt head movement (direction and velocity).

- Code must include feature to use acceleration of the motors to reduce backlash (I.e. When the motor jolts because it tries to move too fast).

- The central controller must also be accessible via a smartphone app. The app does not need to be designed but we would like to a basic proof of concept to know an app can be added at a later date.

- More advanced time lapse features need to be added like; movement being saved to a file on the SD card that can then be repeated when needed or saved to a computer by removing the SD card.

- Control the cameras shutter also needs to be available for bulb ramping.

- time lapse scheduling via the real time clock. Requires deep sleep mode.

- to be as low power as possible by using all sleep modes available on the ICs.

- Over manual slider mode where the slider is operated by the 3 way switch for direction (I.e. Left, Off, Right) and the potentiometer for velocity.

- time lapse must be possible in continuous (motor is always on) and shoot-move-shoot modes (motors move to needed position then stop for the photo. Then when photo is taken the motors move to the next position).

This project will need to be completed within this year but not all features are as important as others and can be pushed back if necessary. We have already produced some basic code and of course are able to provide more detailed information as to the features we require.

We are a product design firm that intends to set up a new office in Asia within the next year. Please keep in mind with your bid that it is very likely we will offer you a position as our electronics programmer if you can completely this project successfully. This project could be worth much more to you that the initial bid price.

The project comes under the condition that all rights to the code will be ours under completion and payment of the project. You will also not be allowed to discuss project openly other than with us. This is because we require the project to stay behind closed doors until the time becomes right for launch.
