The global north is pillaging the global south and the western machine has now reached every continent; therefore, can we really boast about saving someone who was only in danger because we put them there in the first place? Those who are awake do what they can. This is a victory not only for the tribe but for unity and the declaration that ALL people deserve to be here and live as they choose. We must resist the urge to want individual praise, for it will most certainly interfere with our efforts for unity, as it immediately separates us. Yes we are all individuals who generally want recognition for our efforts - we all want to feel appreciated. But we must never lose sight of the fact that win or lose; thrive or perish - we do it together; whether any of us get recognition or not. We all have an obligation to reduce suffering and preserve beauty wherever we find it. To stand in solidarity means we recognize this truth and stand TOGETHER, side by side - not some of us as saviors and all the rest being the 'saved'.
