I maintain a master workbook that already holds every staff member’s name, code and job title. What I need is an additional sheet—or a companion file—that lets me record overtime quickly while pulling those personal details automatically, so no one has to re-type them. Here is the workflow I have in mind: • I type (or select) the staff code and the date; Excel instantly fills in the person’s name and job title from the master list. • I enter the start and end time; the sheet calculates total hours worked as well as total overtime hours. • All formulas run in the background so the only fields we touch are staff code, date, start time and end time. • A running log grows day by day, and at the click of a button I can produce a clean monthly report that summarises overtime per employee. I am fine with VBA, Power Query or structured formulas—whatever achieves a smooth, error-free experience for my team and keeps everything inside Excel. The finished file must be easy to reset for the next month while archiving prior data.
