From a website that lists tables of data from U.S. schools, parse URL of table for each school, school ID, school name, school district (not including ranking information) and enter into a spreadsheet for each state avaliable (only one year needed). Example:
<tr bgcolor=#EEEEEE> <td align=left><a href="http://www.psk12.com/rating/USindivphp/SchID_6207_year_2001.html"> Community Academy Of Philadelphia</a></td> <td align=left>Phila Comm Acad</td> <td align=left><a href="http://www.psk12.com/rating/USindivphp/STATE_PA_level_High_countybycounty_1_CID_510_year_2001.html">Philadelphia</a></td></tr>
Would result in (commas represent columns):
[url removed, login to view], 6207, Community Academy of Philadelphia, Phila Comm Acad
This would be done for two types of schools for each state -- middle and high -- so the work book would have 2 worksheets per state (42*2=84 worksheets total, may have to be done in multiple workbooks).
I can send you links to the pages for each school type and state.
A second project involves mining data from each URL parsed, but this project comes is first.
